When I received the press release for the Carine Roitfeld and Mac collaboration last year I blogged excitedly about it. Everything about it appealed to me. At the time I had no money so couldn’t purchase anything and then the moment passed and I forgot about it.
Then I remembered it and the hunt was on to get the bits I wanted. Tropical Mist lipstick was a no goer, I did find it on the Selfridges website but I wasn’t prepared to pay the £4.95 shipping for one lipstick, a sheer nude lipstick at that, so I had to let my wishes for the lippie go. The Desert Camoflage Face Palette was still in stock on the Mac website last time I checked, but a friend very kindly gave me hers. In the absence of the Tropical Mist liptick, I’ve teamed the palette with Mac’s Yash Lipstick which is a neutral peach nude, rather than a sheer sheen.
The palette contains a Cremeblend Blusher in Sand Storm and four shadows, Sahara Dust (light creamy ivory shimmer finish), Cactus Thorn (bright golden bronze shimmer finish), Desert (cool toned taupe shimmer finish), Carbon (matte true black). All you need to create this seasons brown smokey eye look.

Couldn’t be more delighted with the face palette, I’m able to create just the look I was hoping to create, the blackened eye and more muted face. I just added kohl and black mascara.
Take a look:
I’ve just checked and both Desert Camouflage and Jungle Camouflage are both still available on the Mac Website. Well worth a look I think.
Oh I forgot to mention the cute little star stencils, I’ve not used them yet but they are so cute!
