Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil

I’ve been introduced some incredible skincare products lately and I think slowly but sure I’m really getting a grip on my skin. My new Clarisonic is working wonders (although I’ll be happy when the purging stage is over), but just before I started using my Clarisonic I was sent this. The Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil for Dehydrated Skin.

I can’t tell you how much I love this stuff. It smells divine, it leaves my skin feeling amazing, it absorbs pretty quickly and its just an amazing product.

I have to say from the off I’m not sure what “dehydrated skin” is, or how it differs from “dry skin”. There is a treatment oil for dry skin and this one for dehydrated skin so they must be something different. It doesn’t really matter, what matters is that it works beautifully on my skin. 100% pure plant extracts with no preservatives, this oil contains Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid to tone, revitalise and restore radiance to moisture depleted skin.  Hazelnut Oil helps to prevent moisture loss and prevent the formation of fine lines.

This is an oil intended for use in the evenings only. I cleanse as usual then add a few drops to the palm of my hand and massage into my skin. If I’m feeling extremely dry (have had a lot of colds lately) I’ll add a touch of moisturiser to the dry bits as well, otherwise I just use the oil only.

When I wake up in the morning my skin feels plump, clean, healthy and most importantly moisturised but not congested. Obviously, I am now using a Clarisonic as well and some of these things can be attributed to that too, but I was using this oil for a couple of weeks before the Clarisonic arrived and I still noticed these results.

All in all, I highly recommend this and so my love affair with Clarins continues. It’s £29 for 30ml and I envisage this will last quite some time given how little you use.

I am using the Santal oil and completely love it, although had a brush with disaster when I went a bit mad with it one night and layered face mask on top – I sort of burnt my chest and had some small blisters appear – proof if nothing else that this stuff is full of essential oils that are working hard! I bought mine before the new bottle with the pipette came out, wish I had waited as application is a bit tricky without it! It certainly is lovely stuff.

Ooh that sounds nasty! But yes, it is totally packed with great oils. You’ll have to use your bottle up then buy some more. Consider yourself enabled!

Skin may be dry because it lacks water or because it lacks oil. An oily skin can be dehydrated because have no much water but much oil.
The problem is that the more superficial layers of the skin is impermeable to hydrophilic products such as water, hence that you should put water to hydrate surrounded by oil to pass these layers.
I don’t know if I’ve explained something well I hope you understand me!
    Have a nice day!

I have the dry skin version andI love it as an intense pick me up post night’s out and after long days in the air conditioned office. It’s great to put on thick before a long bath as a mask.
One word of caution DO NOT use on freshly waxed brows! Sore was not the word I burnt my skin, and the scabs I was left with gave away the secrets of my unibrow! x
