I’ve come to believe that Clarins are the producers of base make up Holy Grail items. Fact. I waxed lyrical about Skin Illusion. I raved about the Colour Breeze Face and Blush Palette (I was sent one to review and immediately bought another as a back up). I declared my love for the Ever Matte Mineral Powder Compact and I’m about to swear I’ll never cheat on the Ever Matte foundation (except it’s lies because I adore foundation and just have to try new ones all the time but I do love it!). The review of this has been a long time coming because I was sent the wrong shade, but now I’m colour matched and ready to go. I am a Shade 103, which is nigh on perfect for me. I think Clarins are the first brand I’ve ever found where I can match myself perfectly instead of just settling for near-as-damn-it.
So, the foundation, as with the powder it promises to keep shine at bay, be oil free, have a SPF 15 and come in a great range of shades. It also claims to regulate the production of sebum and tighten pores.
So I’ve already mentioned in my Ever Matte Mineral Powder review that I tend to avoid matte base products for fear of looking powdery and flat. This isn’t the case with these Clarins Ever matte products. What I find they do is keep the oil at bay for several hours (used together with the powder they are a force to be reckoned with) but they maintain a natural slightly dewy finish.
On the hand….
Looks pretty matte there I know, but enlarge the picture, you’ll still see glimmers of life in there 😉 A little goes a very long way and it blends easily both with fingers and a brush, my preference, as always, is the ELF Flat Topped Powder Brush.
Above is the foundation, topped with the powder, 5 hours after application. I’m not matte, but I’m no oil slick either. Good work (again) Clarins! Ever Matte foundation is £24 and I give it the Charlie seal of approval.
