Today I’m blogging about the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil*. I’m so happy as these were launched first time in January to great acclaim and I missed out, they are now back, permanently and I finally get to try them out!
Okay so the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils are a sort of lipgloss/treatment oil hybrid. Once applied they look like a lipgloss, but they perform like a lip treatment. Blended with essential oils and hazelnut oil as a preservative there’s also mirabelle and organic jojoba oil to nourish. There are two versions, Honey and Raspberry. Each is very lightly coloured, adding very little in terms of colour to the lip (although I do believe raspberry adds a hint of pinkness to my lips), and each is lightly scented. I personally think they smell very similar and I’m not sure they are honey and raspberry scented!
In terms of performance they are lush! When you apply them they definitely go on like gloss. And a fairly sticky gloss at that. But in time these moisturise and mellow, leaving behind a satin sheen and plumped lips. They are really very lovely and I can now see why they sold out first time round and why they have been bought back permanently. They also stay on my lips for much longer than an average lipgloss. Possibly in part to the stickyness, but I applied at 10am and can still feel remnants on my lips now at 3.00pm, they are of course, no longer glossy.
I never wear gloss over lipstick, it makes me feel all unhappy when my doe foot applicators get lipstick on them, but I’d imagine they’d perform well over a lipstick for a glossy look but they are perfect for me as I skip lipstick quite often as I feel overly made up, but I feel wrong without something on my lips. The following picture is of the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Honey, immediately after application. The lines you can see in the finish, are the remnants of foundation I swept over my lips, rather than this product.
These are £18 each and available from Clarins online and instore. I note that Raspberry doesn’t seem to be available, I am not sure if it has launched and sold out or if its just not been stocked yet, but both shades are currently available on Selfridges site.
I don’t generally get on with lip balms, I find that frequently they aggravate my dryness rather than soothing it, this product however really works, my lips definitely feel nourished. At £18 they are not cheap, but they are a touch of luxury, and for me, not just luxury, but effective too. Definitely recommend.
