In recent years I’ve strayed from Mac a little and I’m not entirely sure why that is. There are products that I’ve used and loved until there’s not a scrap left. The only reason I can think I’ve not replaced them is because, as I’m a blogger, there’s always something new to try.

I’ve been having some issues with my base make up lately, with it not staying in place and not looking flawless. Looking through some old blog photographs really made me realise that somewhere along the way I’ve lost my touch!

So, when Exeter finally got a Mac store, and I finally got a tax rebate, it was time to have a little splurge. I picked up a few products but today I wanted to talk about the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish NaturalI used to love this product, you can see it mentioned in an old post here. In fact I used it until there wasn’t any left. So I decided to repurchase. The range has had a facelift and the shade names have changed. I used to be a Light Medium, but that no longer exists so I wanted to be matched in store. My new shade is Light Plus, which I actually think is the same as Light Medium, just a new name. The packaging has also had a revamp and is much more attractive now.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish NaturalThe powder inside however, is exactly how I remember it. A perfect dome of pressed, mineral powder. The photo below shows the colour more accurately that the one above which is a touch too warm.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish NaturalApply it with a big, soft, fluffy brush and you’ll get a perfect finish to your make up. I can’t believe I forgot about it. This is absolutely without a doubt the best powder I have ever used. It seems to hold everything in place, nearly all day, with a touch being unnecessary for me (but I am prone to dryness rather than oilyness), but touch up can freshen everything up at about 3/4pm. Personally at that stage of the day I don’t really bother, and I find that my make up still looks good even though there’s a touch of shine creeping in.

I can’t recommend this powder enough, its amazing.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish NaturalThe only downside I can think of is that it’s had a hefty £6 price increase since my last purchase, making it £24, but it lasts, and it is one of the few products that I know I will use every single bit of.

A very definite recommendation from me and I won’t ever stray again, using this again for the first time in years felt like coming home.

You can purchase your own from Mac counters and online.

I love the sound of this but yeah the hefty price tag is a bit off putting x

I think I’ve got it in my head what products I will pay more for and what I won’t. I was using a much cheaper powder but it just didn’t perform as well and by midday I was looking patchy 🙁

What a great review! I’m not a huge fan of MAC as they test on animals (or won’t confirm if they do or not) so it puts me off buying their products! This looks great though x

It is a great product. Its a big problem the issue of testing on animals in order to sell in China and I do wish Mac/Estee Lauder would not.

  3. Tori Gabriel says:

Like Sabina said in an earlier comment, I avoid this company due to the animal testing. In fact, I avoid most make ups for this very reason.

There’s an idea for a post for you: Top Ten Cruelty Free Make Up Products. I would really love to read that. If you write it, please let me know. 😉

  4. Claire says:

I love Mac products, they are quality and I love their choice of colours in the eye shadows 🙂

  5. I’ve always wondered what MAC powders are like and now I really want one! Great review 🙂

  6. This looks amazing on you. I will be on the lookout for it.

  7. I have to say [ and this might come as a shock] but I don’t own a single MAC product. This powder does look amazing though I have very oily skin so I was wondering how useful a powder would be?

    • justcharlieg says:

I think if you bought the right powder it would help keep that oil at bay, if that was what you wanted, that’s a powders primary function! Some are better than others at keeping oil at bay though, Clarins Ever Matte is brilliant and well worth a look!

  8. Emma says:

This looks like a fab powder. I am looking for something to sort out my base as I’m have issues myself.

  9. Thoroughly enjoyed reading your review- I have long wondered what this product is like. Guess its time for a trip to MAC for me! xxx

  10. Sally Akins says:

It’d take a lot to make me switch from my Chanel powder compact, but I do love MAC lipsticks and that powder looks lovely.

    • justcharlieg says:

Gah I splurged on a Chanel powder once and I was disappointed in it, I do love Chanel in general though, which powder do you use?

      • Sally Akins says:

Ha! After saying that it would take a lot to make me switch, I just dropped my compact and the lid has shatter off.

I used to use the Healthy Glow Sheer Powder, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Gutted does not begin to cover how I’m feeling right now!

Although, maybe it’s an excuse to visit the MAC counter and try a new powder 😉

Not a fan of MAC products anymore since changing to cruelty free makeup up. They do have some cool looking items. Also prefer loose powder to compact.

  12. Sarah Bailey says:

What a fantastic review, I totally have to admit I don’t utilise make up as much as I should, more often than not I go out and think oh I forgot to put my make up on haha! Do have a huge stack of MAC though and might just have to add this to it. x

  13. Claire says:

I live the suggestion of a cruelty free make up piost… It matters so much to me and it makes me so sad that many people are unaware of it!

  14. Thanks for sharing this review, I really need to sort my foundation and powder – since I had my daughter my skin has changed so much my foundation just doesn’t sit right. This looks amazing. I am going to check it out.

Yes, my skin has been the terrible since I had my kids too! I’m working hard to getting it under control but its not an easy process!

  15. Kacie says:

I love Mac products but I can’t afford to continue buying them all the time.

    • justcharlieg says:

I can rarely afford Mac any more sadly, but I had a wee tax rebate and treated myself to a few bits. i do miss the days where I used to buy lots though!

  16. Renna says:

Great skin! The powder looks nice and light on you. Hefty price yes, but they last so it’s great value too. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Ickle Pickle says:
