So if you have seen my giveaway you’ll know that I promised to show some of the prizes in more detail over the next week as I purchased a set of the prizes for myself as well. I’m kicking off the week with a review of the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice.
This was the first item I opened and tried by the brand so I wasn’t at all sure what to expect, with other budget brands in the past I’ve been disappointed, either by the cheap, soft texture of the products, or their lack of longevity on my skin, or indeed, poor colour pay off, all topped off with nasty cheap packaging.
I really like the outer cardboard packaging, it doesn’t look cheap at all and when you open it up you get a sturdy, palette inside.
The Sugar and Spice palette offers a variety of colours and finishes, pretty much covering all possible blusher requirements in one palette.
There’s a good mix of matte shades, very subtle shimmers (more of a glow effect) as well as a show stopping highlighter shade and a highly shimmery blush. Shades range from pale pink for the highlighter, to corals, reds, pinks and a couple of nude/bronze shades for contouring and adding a touch of bronze to the skin.
They swatch up beautifully.
A couple of the shades are a little more powdery than the others, but not so it causes any problems. That colour on the top row, second from the right, pretty much a dupe for Nars Orgasm. But I absolutely love the far right shade on the bottom, its glorious, but needs a light hand due to the high shimmer. I do find that they don’t last all day on my skin, but I get a good five or six hours out of them which for the money I’m totally thrilled with. I am pleasantly surprised and delighted and I can see this being used every single day.
