You may or may not be aware that recently over at Secret Sales there was a Rouge Bunny Rouge sale. Now this ethereal looking brand has always appealed to me, but the prices were right out of my league… however, a 50% off sale was more than I could pass up! Generally speaking this brand isn’t well known outside of the beauty blogging world, or least a quick survey of people I know showed that none of them had heard of the brand at all. Possibly the reason for this is the lack of availability in the High Street. I think it’s probably only a matter of time before word spreads though, the quality is amazing and the packaging is to die for.  So first up, just take a look at the stunning outer packaging and please try and pretend that there of the boxes arent’ upside down…

And the beautiful products? (again, the three eyeshadows are upside down)

The first item is the Decadent Duo in Tango and Argentino. It is beautiful. It’s a liquid blush on one end and a gloss on the other and it really is beautiful. The liquid blush is a natural flush colour that blends like a dream and the lipgloss is a sheer pink with a hint of sparkle. However, I do kind of wish I hadn’t bought this as they are so tiny. I’d rather have used my money to buy one of the gorgeous blush wand, but you know, they weren’t half price, this was, and it is glorious. I just can’t see it lasting me very long at all which is disappointing.

Next up are the three eyeshadows I bought or to give them thir proper name, When Birds Are Singing Long-Lasting Eye Shadows in Veiled Lyrebird, Tantalizing Lovebird and Gracious Arasari. Here they are under two different lights:

In the second picture the order is Gracious Arasari, Veiled Lyrebird and Tantalizing Lovebird. I have mixed feelings on these. The packaging is glorious, as are the colours! The level of pigment is pretty good. Gracious Arasari is the least shimmery of them all, and I must say I struggle to get it show up on my lid, it’s fine in it’s pigment levels, it just is very pale.  Veiled Lyrebird and Tantalizing Lovebird are both stunning shades but they are very similar on my eyelid so they merge into one! Seperately they are stunning and for me, rather than wearing these shades together, I will probably end up wearing these when I want a single colour.  Don’t get me wrong, the formula of these is beautiful, and the swatches glorious, there’s nothing wrong with the products at all, it’s just the colours I chose! You’ll see what I mean when you see the swatches shortly!

Rouge Bunny Rouge HaulThe last product I bought is the absolute highlight of my spree. The If It Were Summer Still Bronzing Glow Powder in Netherway Cove. Hands down the best bronzer I have ever owned in my life.
Probably the picture won’t demonstrate this too well but I cannot describe how perfect this is on my skin. It’s a brown shade with a hint of pink and absolutely not even a hint of orange. On my pale skin this is absolutely amazing. I find with bronzers I have to be so careful, one wrong brush stroke and I look like I’ve been tangoed. Not so so with this one. It’s subtle and buildable. A light dusting gives me the gentlest wash of tan and as I say I can keep building until I get the desired strength of colour.
I do want to show you this and all the other product in a FotD post but I’ve decided not to do any more of faces on my blog until I’ve had my brows sorted (Tuesday!!) so you’ll just have to wait. But trust me, amazing is the word for all of it. When you use these products, you can just tell they are expensive. Everything about them screams “quality”. Am so pleased with my haul but wish perhaps that I’d swapped one of the pinky shadows out for the blue or green that was also in the sale, so I hadn’t ended up with such similar shades.
Anyway, here’s some blurry swatches.

The light brown smudge down the left side is the bronzer, above that is the blush end from the decadent duo, above that is the gloss from the decadent duo. Down the right hand side are the three eyeshadow swatches, the top one being Gracious Arasari, followed by Tantalizing Lovebird and the bottom one is Veiled Lyrebird. The smudge down the middle of the the two columns is the remains of earlier swatches I didn’t think to clean off properly…oops!
So what do you think? Do you own any Rouge Bunny Rouge that you recommend? Are you tempted or is the price just too much for you?
Rouge Bunny Rouge is available from the fabulous http://www.zuneta.com/. Which by the way, if you haven’t visited yet, you should.

    Hi Charlie,
I thought so long about whether to get any products from the Secret Sale ever since Modesty Brown posted about it (I must have made up about 10 different virtual baskets!). In the end I managed to resist, opting to get fewer items that had been on my wishlist for ages from Zuneta for Christmas. Having seen your lovely haul though I am wishing I had indulged! Enjoy your fabulous products! Jennifer X

I wish I’d gone for the bronzer now, that’s my biggest regret.
I’ve been swatching and playing with my RBR haul today and I think I could have made much better choices, sadly. Everything is a bit same-y! xx

awwww I loooove RBR!!! I have loved everything I got from them so happy you have discovered them too now. The bronzer is brilliant!

  4. Charlie says:

Liparazzi, the bronzer was a gamble for me, they always are as I’m so pale but it’s amazing!

Welsh Beauty Blog, I’m the same. I like them all but wish I’d bought one of the green or blue shadows instead, to add some variety to the mix. The decadent duo is gorgeous but theres so little am scared to use it and wished I’d kept my money and bought a full size blush & gloss.

Lipstick Luvvie, your wishlist is amazing, you did the right thing for sure!

Haven’t really heard of Rouge Bunny Rouge till recently and now I really want to try it. Everything you got looks amazing.

You know I love RBR! The bronzer looks amazing. My star buy from the sale was the tinted moisturiser. The lipstick and eyeshadow I chose were both colours I had looked at before. I didn’t get a decadent duo as I already have a blusher on my list that wasn’t in the sale. Sales are always so tempting but I try really hard to stick to my original shopping list.

I hope you can find a way to make the eyeshadows work for you or that you can sell/swap. I look forward to your FOTD with your RBR face x

Secret Sales? What am I missing here? Been wanting to try RBR for ages but like you, bit out of my price range!

  8. Charlie says:

Aww Leanne, Secret Sales is a website and they have sales of all sorts of things, you can sign up here http://secretsales.com/registration/?invite=7554528 but RBR sale has finished, still worth signing up though as they do have make up brands from time to time xx

I hadn’t heard of this brand. I like their packaging! Especially the boxes they come in.

  11. Kelsey says:

These products are gorgeous! I would love to try RBR, but even at half price they are pretty pricey for a product you are pretty much buying blind.

  12. Replica says:

I almost got Veiled Lyrebird as well but like you say it does look quite similar to Tantalizing Lovebird. Regarding Gracious Arasari, I wonder do you have a brush like the MAC 214, as thats a good one to use for shadows that are not pigment rich ?
I always have regrets after sales, I think with this one I probably should have picked up a few more things as its not often you get 50% off, still not like I don’t have more than enough makeup 😉

  13. Charlie says:

Ah ha! The RBR guru has arrived! I don’t have anything like a 214 but I could easily get a Sigma or Elf version and give it a whirl!

I found the two pinky shades are quite different in the swatches but on the eye impossible to tell apart. I should have stepped away from Arasari and definitely have got one of the blues or greens. I am also really disappointed I didn’t get a lippie now I’ve seen yours and modestys. Still, there’s always Zuneta!

  14. Replica says:

LOL, does that mean I buy too much RBR 😉 I wish I had got the blue shadow as well.
I think you owe it to yourself to get one of their lipsticks…

  15. Charlie says:

I have a shopping list. I think I’m going to try treating myself to one or two bits a month for a while. My list is quite lengthy 😉
