Today I’ve got a couple of lovely things to share with you. I’ve got a couple of bits from the new Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier collection. I was wondering how you pronounce Figuier? Is it Fig-You-EE-Ay or Fig-oo-ee-ay. Or something totally different? My french is very very rusty so if you know please leave me a comment. Anyway look!
I’m such a sucker for packaging and this is so gorgeous.
The collection has been inspired by a little-known region of France, Massif de l’Esterel. Fig trees grow all over the South of France but they are most abundantly found here, in Massif d l’Esterel. I’ve just been reading the press release stuff that came with these samples and was surprised to learn the scent has been created by Francis Kurkdijian. If you don’t know who he is you can read all about him here, but in short, he’s a perfume legend.
The central product to the collection is the Eau Fraiche spray.
The inspiration for the scent is both the bark and flowers of the fig tree along with the fruit itself and you end up with quite a strange, but absolutely beautiful combination of scents which is milky, fruity and woody all whilst remaining fresh thanks to the inclusion of grapefruit and mandarin.
Essentially, the citrus fruits are carefully blended with fig leaves and pulp, caraway seeds, musk, fig milk and cedar to create the essence of the Mediterranean in a bottle. The scent itself, not being an Eau de Toilette or a Eau de Parfum doesn’t last the longest time on my skin but I layer with the beautiful Replenishing Body Lotion to get as much longevity as possible. With the combination of both products I can, if I put my nose against my skin, smell it all day long. The body lotion isn’t just a product to enhance the Eau Fraiche though, it is a beautiful moisturiser in itself which does a more than adequate job on my parched limbs.
The Eau Fraiche is available in two sizes, the 30ml is £16 and the 100ml is £32. The Replenishing Body Lotion is £12.50 and also in the collection are soaps, £13 for three, and a shower cream which is £9.
This is truly beautiful and wearing it just helps to extend that beautiful Summer we’ve just had.
I would recommend Escentual as a retailer since the prices are a little cheaper than those listed above.
