Do you ever just see something and know right then and there that you have to have it at any cost? That’s how I felt when I saw this post over at British Beauty Blogger. That palette there at the bottom of the post. WANT. And then I nipped into my local House of Fraser for a swatching session and that’s when I fell in love. I have also been after a RED blusher for ages since I failed miserably to get that Chanel Byzantine one. So then I saw the Fall blushers and I needed one of those too. Sigh.
Love the YSL gold packaging.
Also like the little black velvet pouch for the blusher with a brush I didn’t notice tucked in a tiny pocket. It literally look me DAYS to notice there was a brush in there!
Two pics of the Blush Radiance. I picked up Shade 5. It’s red. The second picture is completely colour accurate. The first is not and is only included as it’s not actually blurry like the second. This cost me £29.50. Was it worth it? I need more time with it to be sure…
God it’s amazing in the pan. I’ve been not too daring with it and have just been working on a gentle flush. Do not ask me why I have put this on the lower half of my face in the first pic. Clearly I was just being a total make up noob that day 😉 As you can see, it’s not very red. I am going to have to be braver with it I think. I will say this though, it’s easy to be light handed with it making it quite suitable for anyone terrified of looking like Aunt Sally. Check the swatches at the end of the post for the depth of colour that is possible.
Ok so now on to the best bit. The most stunning thing I’ve ever owned. Ever ever. EVER. Yes, I’m quite enthusiastic about this. The Midnight Garden Eyeshadow Palette. Although you can’t really tell, that middle pale green is the best eyeshadow I’ve ever owned. I’ve been searching for it for a long time. I had found close to what I was after in two Chanel quads (Murano and Garden Party) but it wasn’t perfect. This is. Let me explain a little, three of the shades, the dark green, the pink and the purple all have tiny blue iridescence in them. The pale green is PACKED with iridescence. And it’s that that makes this palette truly out of this world. I am ashamed to tell you this cost me £40. It’s a good job its about the best thing I’ve ever owned in my life.
Ok so before I show you the looks I created this palette here are swatches. Blush on the left. Please do enlarge these pictures, one shows the shimmer off and the other does a better job of showing the level of pigment.
So here’s some looks. The first features the pink and purple from the right side of the palette, a tiny bit of the dark green on the lower lash line and a little smattering of the light green for sparkle. I urge you to enlarge because at these sizes for some reason you can’t see the amazing green sparkle. ENLARGE I ORDER YOU!
The next look features the two dark shades and the pale green again. ENLARGE!!
Hopefully my enthusiasm for this palette has been adequately conveyed? It is sublime.
BUT, it is always my way to wear colours, but to wear them in a relatively subtle fashion…to see the palette’s potential have a look at this blog I found the other day http://www.kittennails.co.uk/ I was amazed at the depth of colours she got so I’ll have a play. I’ve got a night out coming up soon and I’m gong to try for something a little more full on (although not that full on!)
So did you buy anything from this collection? Would you? I’m really fancying the YSL Luxurious Mascara Shocking Volume in either Black Green or Black Blue or even the purple one to go with the palette….
