Scrubs are my favourite body products and I’m very fussy about them. Not only do I have a lot of rough skin to get rid of but I just love the sensation of being scrubbed, and for me to fall in love with a scrub it has to be brutally scrubby!
So the Enrich Scrub is packed full of coffee, frankincense and pink grapefruit in a deep cleansing salt base wtih sweet almond oil to moisturise. It ain’t cheap but then often the good stuff isn’t! It’s £33 for 200ml.
Firstly it smells beautiful as you would expect from Aromatherapy Associates, but the first thing I really noticed about using it was that it wasn’t scrubby enough for my tastes…it is however beautifully rich as I think you can tell by looking at the product.
After drying though there’s no denying my skin felt amazing, soft and smooth and lightly scented. It really is beautiful. I don’t really think there’s enough in the pot for regular use all over the body so I save mine, along with the body butter, for those days when the PMT is at its worst, or I really need a luxurious bath, it really just can’t be beaten, and I stick to using it on just my roughest parts, like my upper arms!
Yeah it might not be as scrubby as I usually like my scrubs to be, but there’s no denying this packs a powerful punch and again is an absolute luxury product that feels amazing when you use it. Just using such luxury products can help to make you feel better after a crappy day. I can live without the heavy duty scrub feeling in this product because the other benefits are so great.
Unless you are particularly rich it’s not an every day product, but if you have a birthday or other special occasion looming (Mothers Day?), this is well worth hinting for!
Available from http://www.aromatherapyassociates.com/, Space NK, Liberty and Fortnum & Mason.
So starting with the crucial bit, it’s £37 for 55ml. It’s not cheap. I’ve had my bottle for about three weeks or so, not sure off the top of my head, and it’s already become invaluable. I did get this bottle for free so of course you may think it’s easy for me to say, but I can one hundred percent guarantee that when I’ve used the last drop I will purchase a bottle for myself. With real actual money. Even if I have to sell something to get it. It’s a bit like a drug. I don’t think I can cope without out it any more. I don’t know how I coped before I had it!
Ok, its been a crappy couple of weeks, the kids have been ill and naughty, I’ve been ill and hormonal and if there was ever a time I needed some deep relaxation, this has been it. Fish Wife. Those words are all you need to know about me of late.
The oil itself is a blend of vetivert, camomile and sandalwood, sandalwood being one of my favourite scents ever. Now I don’t bath really, its a rare occurance at least, but I do shower…but I don’t use this as a shower product either (rub it all over yourself before you hop in), no, every night before I go to sleep, as soon as my make up is off and I’m settling down for a good game of Angry Birds and some tweeting in my dark room, I dab this onto my pulse points. The tiniest amount is all you need, it’s potent stuff.
Before I know it I’m slumped dribbling into my pillow in a state of relaxed intoxication. Ok, I’m exaggerating a bit, but my goodness, its good stuff, the day seems to melt away, my mind manages to shut out all crap racing around and sleep comes. Good huh? For someone who has always struggled to shut down at the end of the day it’s like a miracle. Not only is the relaxing effect great but the smell is absolutely amazing, it seeps into your bedding so that your room is scented, it lingers around the next day if you dont’ shower first thing, it’s like a gorgeous perfume, a perfume that gets you stoned. Or something. Not that I’d know about that kind of thing. Um. Well, you know what I mean.
I’ll stop there. Are you sold yet?
I’ve loved many body moisturisers over the years, and not loved a fair few too. I’ve never been the sort of person content with something functional or boring from Superdrug, it’s got to have fab packaging, an unusual scent or just something different. As such I’ve never been loyal to one brand, some else on the shelf always catches my eye,
Anyway, I’ve found the ultimate Body Butter. Regular readers won’t be surprised that it’s an Aromatherapy Associates product, specifically it’s the Enrich Body Butter, Scented with Sweet Jasmine, Patchouli and Tonka Bean I cannot even begin to describe stunning this smells, it is quite literally blissful. I realise wile I’m slathering it on I keep sniffing myself and it makes me feel happy. Whats more, the scent lasts 24 hours on my skin which is amazing. Admittedly by my next shower it’s faint but it’s still there.
It not only smells glorious but its super moisturising too and leaves your skin with a soft, non greasy, sheen. As it’s so rich a little goes a long way which is a good thing since it’s £30.75 for 150ml….eek. I was fortunate enough to have been sent this item but it’s a measure of how much I love it that I will, without question, be saving some money to replace this when I finish. This is truly a holy grail product. I’ll also be selling like a loon on Ebay in order to raise funds to buy the matching scrub.
Glorious, beautiful and effective. This is a must.

Another indulgent winner of a product from Aromatherapy Associates. The Comfort Candle is, I think, a fantastic Christmas gift. Everything about it screams “ideal gift”. Sturdy gold box? Check. Heavy frosted glass holder? Check. Beautiful scent that does actually fill your home? Check. Long burn time? Check. Affordable? Check.
Yep this is pretty much perfect. The scent is a blend of Rose & Ginger. The rose is certainly the overwhelming scent but there’s the extra note of ginger that gives it an extra dimension. As soon as you open the box the scent hits you, and long before you’ve lit the wick, your room is filled with the scent. It’s not that it’s overpowering, it’s really not, but it is just the right amount of scent.
Aromatherapy Associates are what I’d call luxury at any time of the year and the Christmas line up is no different, except with hefty price tags they enter my Uber Luxury category and are therefore very definitely out of my price range. But they are covetable. Very covetable.
First up is the Ultimate Collection. A larger version of the best setlling Miniature Bath and Shower Oil Collection which I loved. Nine oils, 7.5 mls each £49.50.
The oils included are:
Deep Relax: Vetivert, Camomile & Sandalwood
Light Relax: Ylang Ylang, Lavender & Petitgrain
De-Stress Mind: Wild Camomile, Petitgrain & Frankincense
De-Stress Muscle: Lavender, Rosemary & Ginger
Revive Morning: Pink Grapefruit, Rosemary & Juniper Berry
Revive Evening: Geranium, Patchouli & Ylang Ylang
Support Breathe: Eucalyptus, Pine & Tea Tree
Support Lavender & Peppermint: Self explanatory
Support Equilibrium: Geranium, Frankincense & Rose
Next is Heavenly Oils, two new limited edition bath and shower oils, Silent Night is camomile and vetivert for a good night’s sleep and Clear Dawn is ravensara and eucalyptus to revive and refresh. £14 for 2 x7.5mls this is on my wishlist as it’s affordable and I’ve not tried those two oils. Plus I’m interested to know what ravensara is and what it smells like!
Lastly there’s the breathtakingly priced Luxury Skincare Ritual retailing at £120! I am pleased to confirm that these are full sized products thankfully, and are all from the Anti-Age range. It includes Instant Skin Firming Serum, FIne Line Face Oil, Rich Repair Nourishing Cream and the Overnight Repair Mask. If you bought these items seperately it’d cost you £50 more so it is actually a great deal. I’ve tried these products and you can see my thoughts Here
I must say I’m loving the packaging on these and will be putting the Heavenly Oils on my stocking list!
Dare I suggest, in September, that this might be the most perfect Christmas Present for a friend who likes luxury bath products, or an ideal stocking filler?
The Perfect Partners set is a permanent addition to the Aromatherapy Associates line (which you all know by now I love).
Retailing at £14 set comprises two small versions of the Bath & Shower Oils, one to be used in the morning and one to use at the end of the day. Revive Morning is Pink Grapefruit, Rosemary and Juniper Berry and Deep Relax contains Vetivert, Chamomile and Sandalwood oils. I adore both of these, but out of the two I’d have to go for Revive Morning as my favourite but both are beautiful.
Another great product, and definitely one for those Christmas Stockings!
I’ve been wanting to try a hair oil for ages. I’ve got dry, processed hair that needs a lot of TLC, so I was delighted to get my hands on Aromatherapy Associates Hair Oil.
Please excuse the stock photo. I wanted to take a photo of my bottle but I forgot to do so before I used it…it’s now covered in oily finger prints so I thought you wouldn’t especially want to see it!
So the oil contains Brazilian Murumuru butter (whatever that is!) which helps to retain moisture as it creates a barrier that prevents moisture loss. This butter is blended with coconut oil for conditioning and ylang ylang, geramium, patchouli and rosemary essential oils. Each oil is especially chosen for it’s properties. Rosemary for example is a scalp and hair tonic and helps maintain a healthy circulation.
So how was it to use? Well first observation, the smell is out of this world. Unbeleivably beautiful. My only sadness about the smell is that sadly my shampoo & conditioner are so strong smelling that I couldn’t get a hint of the oil once I’d washed my hair. It’s not a fault of the product though, it’s just how it is, you are washng it off after all…
So you apply 2-3 pumps and work it through your hair. You then need to leave it for a minimum of 20 minutes, or as an overnight treatment (sleeping on a towel of course!). I have very fine hair but LOADS of it. I didn’t think the three pumps I used the first time was enough and I struggled to work it through my hair, so I added a couple more pumps. Rookie error, because actually it takes a few minutes to fully saturate your hair. It goes from looking not greasy to looking very greasy all by itself. When I used it first I managed to create something of an oil slick on my head!
Anyway, I’ve used this both overnight and 20 minutes before washing and it really is beautiful. After washing my hair it feels silky and smooth. You know how your hair feels immediately after you’ve put a colour on it? Super soft. Highly highly recommended product. 50ml is £22.50 and if you only use the prescribed amount of pumps that should last a really long time!
More Aromatherapy Associates I was lucky enough to receive in order to review. This time, a shower gel and body cream in Revive and Renew Rose respectively.
Both of these are sample sizes but the proper packaging for the shower gel is a pump bottle whereas the full size body cream comes in a pump.
Revive Body Wash
I’m a bit funny about citrus shower gels as a rule. Why spend a lot on one when you can buy a bog standard supermarket own citrus shower gel for considerably less money. But this is a bit more than just citrus. The ingredients include Bergamot, Pink Grapefruit, Neroli, Sea Silk and Aloe Vera. This is definitely a reviving product, the neroli adds that certain something that makes it different and I LOVE neroli in anything. Very very lathery, a little goes a very long way which is a shame because I could have made this sample last a long time but sadly every time I gently squeezed the tube LOADS came out which is a shame. I’m sure the proper pump bottle will be much better for this. Lovely shower gel. Something really special for a treat. £20 for 200ml from www.aromatherapyassociates.com
Renew Rose Body Cream
I was really excited to try this. It’s only in the last couple of years I’ve grown to love the scent of rose and rose products and given that I have loved all the Aromatherapy Associates products I’d tried before I had no reason to suspect I wouldn’t love this. I didn’t love it actually, it’s not on my “must have” list, although it is very nice. It’s a beautiful, beautiful scent and the main infredients are rose (obviously) Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter. Goes on beautifully and the scent lingers for hours but it wasn’t moisturising enough for me sadly. I prefer something a little richer to help with my bumpy arms, dry elbows and other yucky bits. So it’s a 5 out of 5 for scent, and a 3 out of 5 for everything else. Please do bear in mind though that this might just be fabulous for you. £28.50 for 200ml from www.aromatherapyassociates.com.
In the next week or so I’ll be bringing you the Hair Oil review as well, that really is a bit special. xx
Another Aromatherapy Associates review and I don’t mind telling you I have high expectations from this brand. It’s expensive and my previous experience was exceptional really. I was sent the Anti-Age Introductory Set to try and first impressions were good, stylish and quality packaging.
The set contains:
Instant Skin Firming Serum, 15ml
Fine Line Face Oil, 3ml
Intensive Skin Treatment Oil, 3ml
Overnight Repair Mask, 15ml
Rich Repair Nourishing Cream, 15ml
Rich Repair Eye Cream, 3ml
There’s also a handy little guide telling you how to use the products which is a good job since I was flummoxed. It’s not that it’s confusing really, more that I’m easily confused! These products are all to be used after you’ve cleansed and toned so I just had to find out what order they all needed using in. Actually it’s simple. You use the skin firming serum, followed by the fine line face oil, followed by the nourishing cream and finally the eye cream. The other two products included are for night use only. There’s a repair mask you use for either a couple of hours, or leave on over night, and there’s an Intensive skin Treatment oil to use under the mask in emergencies.
Obviously it’s impossible to tell you if they prevent aging but I can tell you how they were to use. Well, actually the individual products are very very lovely. I particularly love the oils and the serum. The products all smell out of this world, as you would expect from a company called Aromatherapy Associates. Unfortunately, the whole regime isn’t for me. Applying the three main products, the serum, oil and nourishing cream, is just too heavy for my skin. It takes a long time to absorb and it’s hard to get on and put on my make up without my make up sliding away too quickly. I would however continue to use the products, but perhaps, only one or two of them, the oil and serum perhaps. It obviously doesn’t matter if the night products absorb quickly or not and they are lovely.
This isn’t a negative review, far from it, I just want to be clear and say that I like all of the products, but used all together, it’s simply too heavy for me. Stand out products are the Fine Line Face Oil and the Instant Skin Firming Serum and indeed the Intensive Skin Treatment Oil which gives you lovely skin when you wake in the morning.
As with all the Aromatherapy Associates products, they don’t come especially cheap but I really do think they are worth the money. It is simply beautiful stuff. The sample kit I was sent is £28.50 and well worth every penny as a little goes a long way, however, it is currently out of stock on their website. Keep checking back though if you are interested because I do recommend it. Especially if you don’t wear make up every day or you have dry skin, this stuff would be fabulous.
