Just Charlie G

I’ve been following Nisha’s blog (http://productdoctor.blogspot.com/) for a while now and I love her blog. Great well thought out posts with clear pictures and lots and lots of high end products. Lovely! Please please do go and check this one out, I highly recommend!

So lets start with some easy questions!
Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why? I blame my skin for beginning my product obsession! I have combination, acne prone skin, but my biggest problem is hyperpigmentation from acne scars. I am still on the search for the perfect regimen, but here is what I am loving at the moment.

AM:
I wash with Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish. It is extremely gentle and non drying. I then treat with Shiseido’s White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum to lighten my acne scars. I also use Shiseido’s White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment to moisturize under my eyes. Finally, I moisturize, protect, and prime with Chantecaille’s Ultra Sun Protection SPF 50 PA +++ Anti-glycation Primer. It is extremely lightweight, and multifunctional. Perfect for summer!

PM:
At night, I first remove my makeup with Bioderma’s Sensibo H2O. It is a gentle micelle solution that removes all traces of makeup, including waterproof mascara and liner! I then alternate washing with my Clairsonic and the Liz Earle cleanser or Dermalogica’s Age Smart Skin Resurfacing Cleanser. I like the Dermalogica Cleanser because it is an exfoliating cleanser with Lactic Acid, to smooth and retexturize the skin without stripping it of moisture. Afterwards, I use the Shiseido serum and moisturize with Shiseido’s White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion. I use the same Shiseido Eye Cream as well.

I also do a mask once per week, alternating between Ren’s Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask and Dermalogica’s Gentle Cream Exfoliant. Both products contain Lactic Acid, which is a nonabrasive exfoliant and helps lighten acne scars.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
My hair is treated with the Brazilian Keratin Treatment, so I stick to shampoos and conditioners free of sulfates and sodium chloride. At the moment, I am using Alterna’s Bamboo Smooth Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner. Afterwards, I apply Moroccan Oil for extra hydration. Once a week, I also use the Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask to rehydrate my tresses.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
My top 3 makeup brands are Armani, Le Metier de Beaute and Chanel!

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
Armani Luminous Silk in Number 8. It provides buildable coverage so I can have a sheer layer where my skin is good, and heavier coverage where my skin needs it. It lasts all day, and also leaves a radiant glow to the skin. Basically, my skin but better!

What is your favourite mascara and why?
Armani Eyes To Kill! Nothing else volumizes, lengthens, curls and separates like it!

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
Every girl needs a Le Metier de Beaute Lip Crème Lip Gloss! They provide the lacquer sheen finish of a gloss, with the pigmentation of a lipstick! They have so many beautiful colors, too!

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers. Right now, I am really enjoying:

Visionary Beauty– Like many of her posts, her recent post on the Le Metier de Beaute Penelope Kaleidoscope was pure genius. She included pictures of all these different eye looks you can create with the palette!
Makeup Magpie– Her posts are creative, and full of beautiful photography! A pure delight to read!
http://www.modestybrown.com/– I love how thoughtful her product reviews are, especially on skin care. She really makes you feel confident about investing in a product!

Thanks so much for taking part Nisha, I kind of wish I hadn’t had you on here now though because you’ve made me want too many things… namely Armani and LMdB. I am still optimistic LMdB will return to the UK because I’ve now got quite a list of things I’m desperate to try. And for regular readers, no, I’m STILL not over the Splendid Frost saga!

As always, please drop me a line if you’d like to take part in BBBT, absolutely anyone and everyone is welcome. Just drop a line to charlie@ladyofthelane.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Here’s Lauren… look at that skin! It looks absolutely flawless so I’m really looking forward to reading what her tips are!

Lauren’s blog can be found at http://laurenlovesblog.com  and is well worth a follow for fab fashion and beauty posts.

So lets start with some easy questions!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
Every morning, I cleanse with Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, Tone with Liz Earle Toner and moisturise with Liz Earle Moisturiser for greasy skin! I tend to be very brand loyal, especially to Liz Earle. I have such sensitive skin so this is perfect for me – it’s the only skin care that I don’t break out with. Plus the moisturiser for greasy skin is mattefying which means it works as a fab primer!

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I’m a Tigi Bedhead girl! I alternate between the ones I use, I used to use Headshot moisturising shampoo and conditioner but they discontinued it! (I called them to ask why, they said they follow haircare trends and I asked them when moisturised hair went out of fashion!!). I’m currently using the curlesque range which smells like sweeties!

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
I love Barry M for nailvarnish and lipstick, I love MAC for lipstick too and have a few, and I also really like Collection 2000 for their foundations and eyeliner.

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
I’m currently using Collection 2000 perfect finish foundation which I reviewed here (http://www.laurenlovesblog.com/2011/01/the-collection-2000-spring-releases-review.html) at the time I wasn’t very impressed as I had awful skin and this wasn’t thick enough so I chucked it to the back of my drawer. Now the summer has arrived, I had to stop using my Dior Nude Skin foundation as it’s far too oily and I re-discovered this which is perfect for the hot weather as it doesn’t slide off and has SPF!

What is your favourite mascara and why?
I’m loving my Boots No 7 Exquisite curl mascara. I was sent it to review (see here – http://www.laurenlovesblog.com/2011/02/new-no7-exquisite-curl-mascara-and-gel-eyeliner-review.html) and I’ve rebought it several times! I hadn’t tried curling mascara before because firstly I was scared of the curved brush (I’m a klutz and was bound to poke my eye out) and I thought it was a gimmick but it actually works so well!

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
Everyone must own MAC Girl About Town! (review and dupe here! – http://www.laurenlovesblog.com/2011/02/mac-girl-about-town-dupe-barry-m-145-punky-pink.html) It’s the perfect Cheryl Cole pink that everyone must own for a pop of colour. I adore it!

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.

I love hey gorge (http://www.heygorg.com/) which has inspirational wedding pictures. I’m not sure why I love this blog because I’m not getting married…
I love Blah Blah Becky (http://www.blahblahbecky.co.uk/) for her fab content, plus she’s a really lovely blogger and commenter
Phoebe at Peluxe (http://peluxe100.blogspot.com/) write an amazing, funny blog and again is a gorgeous girlie so check her out.

Plus so many more blogs, check out my interactive blogroll (http://www.laurenlovesblog.com/blogroll) for a handful of self-selected bloggers and add yourself to my blogroll too

Thanks so much for taking part Lauren. Firstly I don’t follow any of those blogs so I’d better get on and check them all out. I too am a sucker for Mac Lippies… I don’t have Girl About Town though… I’m wondering if I should add it to the list or if I have enough hot pink lippies… I have quite a few!

As always, BBBT is open to everyone so please if you’d like to take part, please just drop me a line at this email address charlie@ladyofthelane.com. All welcome!

This week we have the very lovely Larie from http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com/ taking part in Beauty Blogger’s Best Things. Contrary to what you might expect, Larie is not actually a small cute dog, she is however a little camera shy so on the left there is her Mum’s adorable dog!

So lets get on and see what Larie has to share with us this week. Starting with the easy questions!

So lets start with some easy questions!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
I have normal to combination skin – occasionally oily through the T-zone, but dry in the winter. I’m afraid that I’m one of those Clinique girls! I started using their 3-step system right after high school, and it really calmed my skin down and kept it balanced, so I figured, why change? Every morning, I wash my face with Clinique’s facial soap, and then apply the moisturizing gel right afterward. Then it’s the Clinique Even Better moisturizer (especially during the winter, when I get dry and patchy skin) and Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 all over my face. Then I pat some of the Bliss eye cream right under my eyes to brighten the panda eyes I usually have in the morning.

In the evening, I remove my eye makeup with an oil-based product (lately it’s been Origin’s Well Off), and then use Boscia’s cleansing oil to take off everything else. I finish with Clinique’s facial soap again. Once a week I use my Clarisonic MIA (with the Clinique soap), and I also exfoliate twice a week with Dr. Brandt’s. After cleansing, I use Clinique’s toner (#2 – the purple one) and then moisturizing gel, and Boscia eye cream. If I need it, I use a spot treatment (usually a drugstore one, like Clean & Clear) at this point.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I’m actually not devoted to any; I pick up whatever’s on sale at the drug store! Usually Aussie, or Herbal Essences, or something like that. They get the job done, and I don’t usually have problems with damaged hair or anything like that. I do make very regular trips to the salon, though.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
Dior, MAC, and all of my eye shadows recently have come from the indie brand Shiro Cosmetics.

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
It’s not exactly a full-coverage foundation, but lately I’ve been loving Dior’s tinted moisturizer: Dior Hydra Life Pro Youth Skin Tint SPF 20 (mouthful, right? Sheesh.) It’s moisturizing, and offers a little more coverage than your average TM. It’s also SPF 20! I wear it in 1, Natural. It has a beautiful, dewy finish.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
I’m actually not big on mascara and don’t wear it every day, but when I do, it’s Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes or Tarte’s MultiplEye.

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
An instant pick-me up product! Whether that’s your favorite eye shadow, the va-va-voom mascara, or a date night lipstick, you should have something that instantly picks up your mood and makes you feel fabulous!

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
Rae @ theNotice (http://thenotice.net/ ). She is hilarious, takes beautiful photos, and often posts photography and blogging tips.
Dani @ http://callitbeauty.blogspot.com/ ). Her photos are also gorgeous, she has great fashion photos, and she does stunning EOTDs – neutrals, show-stopping colors, everything.
MnG @ http://ohsillymng.blogspot.com/ . She has perfect swatches, and her posts are so much fun to read.

Thank you Larie! There are some new blogs for me to follow there so I’m  off to check them out now!
Also I’m loving the sound of that Dior Tinted Moisturiser so I’m going to go and google that too!

Love your gorgeous doggy too 🙂

So the final word, as always, is please drop me a line if you’d like to take part in BBBT, all are welcome, just send an email to charlie@ladyofthelane.com.

I think the questionnaire could do with a little revamp so I’ll be changing some of the questions soon!

Another week and another fantastic blogger willing to share their favourite products with us all. I love these posts so much and I hope they never end!

So anyway, this week is the lovely Christina from . Another fairly recent discovery for me Christina’s blog is a fab look at mostly high end brands creating more than a few items to be added to my list of must trys…. lets see if any of Christina’s answers here get added to the list too!

So lets start with some easy questions!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
I have combination, acne prone and sensitive skin. I am still in the fight to completely clear my face but here is what I’m using at the moment.

AM:
Wash: bulgari foaming cleanser- gentle but good for combo skin
Serum: chantecaille vital essence with arbutin- pretty much just using this up really. I didn’t see any pigmentation decrease with the added arbutin
Treat: clindamyacin phosphate lotion- prescription from my derm
Sun screen/lotion: josie maran protect daily sun protection infused with argan oil spf 40- I have a chemical sunscreen sensitivity and physical blockers sometimes break me out. I went for a while not using any sunscreen because of this until I stumbled upon Josie’s. It really is a life saver.
PM:
Wash: same
Treat: acanya gel- prescription from my derm
Hydrate: pure jojoba oil- it doesn’t irritate my skin

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I don’t really have a favorite right now. I’m just using up some crappy ones until I try something new.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
Le Metier de Beaute, Chantecaille and Becca

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
Chantecaille future skin is my all time favorite. It feels amazing going on, the shades blend in with my skin and it creates a my face but better look.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
I really love Giorgio armani’s eyes to kill mascara, but lately have been having issues with it smudging on me (will have to try the waterproof). Its basically the perfect all around, lengthens, separates, gives volume, holds curl. I think Estee Lauder’s original sumptuous is awesome as well.

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
Laura Mercier eye kohl in brown copper. I love her kohls, which actually stay put on my eyes. All the colors are lovely, but brown copper is my favorite.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
The Black Panties– She reviews more obscure brands, which I love, and provides a really thorough review complete with awesome swatches.
Product doctor- great reviews of all the products I love  Plus shes really sweet.
Perilously pale– shows you her products in action via face of the day posts. I admire her because I tend to hide and not post my face much 😛

Ok so now I have some eyeliners and a mascara added to my list…at least! Thank you very much for taking part and love your blog choices! All regular reads of mine!

As always, if you’d like to take part in Beauty Bloggers Best Things, please drop me a line to Charlie@ladyofthelane.com. All welcome!

Zuzu-at-Everyday-Beauty

This week it’s the turn of the lovely Zuzu’s Petals from the very lovely blog Everyday Beauty. A relatively new blog to me but one I’m pleased to have found anyway because she reviews beautiful products with great photo’s and swatches. Please check it out.

So let’s start with some easy questions!
Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
I like my skincare to be as simple as possible; the fewer products, the better. In the morning I use a warm wet facecloth to steam clean my face, and then I apply Baltic Collagen to my face and neck while wet and let that air dry. When dry, I apply a pea-sized dot of Ulta MD Daily Face Shield sunscreen (SPF 45), and then my face is ready for makeup. At night, I use Bioderma Crealine H2O Ultra-Mild Non-Rinse Face and Eyes Cleanser, which removes all my face goo, including mascara, and then I follow that up with Baltic Collagen or La Roche-Posay Toleriane Soothing Protective Light Facial Fluid.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
None. I’ll use whatever is around. Right now I am alternating between Paul Mitchell One, Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo, and Kerastase Bain Volumactive Shampoo. I like Kerastase products the best, but after 2-3 weeks of daily use, my hair feels like straw.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
I always dread such questions, because I am fickle, but I’d have to say Chantecaille, Laura Mercier, and Ellis Faas. These brands might occasionally fall off the top three, but they never dip below top 5. Right now Rouge Bunny Rouge is giving them a run for their money. What I like about these brands is their selection of natural colors, outstanding textures, and the fact that they look like second skin on me. I’m no longer interested in wearing dramatic makeup (other than red lips), so I really appreciate a well-edited line in colors that look like they could have originated from my own skin and hair and eyes.

What is your favourite foundation and why?

Vincent Longo Water Canvas Cream-to-Powder Foundation. It feels natural, doesn’t look like I am wearing anything, and still manages to cover up imperfections, like the rosy cheeks I hate.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
Shock of all shockers, but I don’t have one. Mascara is not my ‘desert island’ item, far from it. My lashes are long and charcoal colored, and I dislike mascara that makes eyelashes look like squashed spider legs. It’s hair, after all. So I skip the thickening mascaras and choose those that darken the individual lashes, especially at the tips, where mine go a bit blonde. If I had to choose, it’s a tossup between Lancôme Defincils and Blinc, but I also loved Maybelline Lash Discovery when it was around in Soft Black.
What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
A flask. Just kidding. I’d say tweezers. Perfectly groomed brows frame the face and can instantly take away years or lack of sleep from our faces. If brows have thinned, it’s essential to have a good brow filler, whatever your preference (pencil, powder, …)

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
There are so many excellent beauty blogs, it’s really hard to zero in on just three, and I always know that by naming three, I am leaving so many good ones out. I also had to make sure the ones I listed were not in your own blog roll, since you’re looking for new ones.
Here are some of my favorite daily reads:
Perilously Pale (http://perilouslypale.blogspot.com). PP has incredible taste, and she always comes up with new and exciting ways to wear color. I always look forward to her FOTD and try to incorporate them into my own looks. Plus, we pale faces have to stick together.
Makeup Merriment (http://www.makeupmerriment.com/) . I love Jeanie’s blog, and I will always be grateful for her taking me under her wing when I was just starting out. She’s one of the nicest people on the blogosphere, and she writes wonderful reviews.
25fLONDON (http://www.25flondon.com/). 25f writes excellent reviews, and not just about makeup. As a bonus, she takes some of the most exquisite pictures I have seen on the net.

And an honorable mention goes to Hopelessly Devoted to Makeup. She’d have been on my list, but since she recently mentioned my blog in her top 3, I didn’t want anyone to think we were on each other’s payroll.  😉

Thanks so much for taking part, I’ve really enjoyed reading your replies. I’m going to really upset you and let you know I do already follow all the blogs you’ve mentioned but I have to thank you for reminding me they all, and you, need adding to my blog roll, I’ll get onto that! Particularly interested in your comment about Kerastase as I find continued use dries my hair out too!

As always, if you’d like to take part in BBBT, drop me a line to charlie@ladyofthelane.com.

This week’s blogger taking part in Beauty Blogger’s Best Things is the lovely Kei Kei of http://www.misskeikei.blogspot.com/. Without question Kei  Kei’s blog is one of the cutest and most stylish I follow with great reviews, fab pics and gorgeous design so be sure to go and take a look, you won’t regret it.

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
I have dry, sensitive and acne prone skin, so I am very into my skincare. I always exfoliate my face at least twice a week with Origin’s Modern Friction Scrub. I love using Estee Lauder’s Night Advance Repair Serum to treat and condition my skin. The following products always help clear my skin of spots, La Roche Posay Effaclar Toner, Dr Nick Lowe Spot Gel and Savlon Cream! I now only use Aveeno Moisterising Cream to moisterise my face after trying lots of dry skin creams. I also like using a whitening serum during the day that helps with brightening my complexion and using whitening sheet masks most weekends to help treat scarring from spots. Not over cleansing my skin, using products in moderation and having a healthy diet really is the fundamentals for me in maintaining healthy skin.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I must admit I am very bad when it comes to hair maintenance! I have long hair and like to wash my hair more than I should, so I tend to pick up anything that’s on offer. Although recently I have been stuck in a rut with Pantene’s Nature Fusion and Aussies Volume shampoo. They are inexpensive and leave my hair really soft and clean! When it comes to haircare that’s one side of beauty I am very minimal in!

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
1. Clinique for everyday foundations.
2. Jemma Kidd for daily essentials.
3. Rouge Bunny Rouge for a luxury treat.

Ok some specifics now!

My top three makeup recommendations would be:
1. Becca Shimmering Pore Perfector – for flawless natural dewy looking skin.
2. Jemma Kidd Glosstick in Bridgetown or RMK Irresistible Lips in Pale Pink – for cute nude lips.
3. Dr Jart Black Label BB Cream – for a high coverage and moisturising BB cream

What is your favourite foundation and why?
I am obsessed with base makeup so I have a few favourite foundations but my most used for everyday is Clinique’s Even Better Foundation. It’s good for my acne prone skin and provides excellent coverage for my uneven skin tone. For a high-street alternative Bourjois and MaxFactor do excellent foundations too.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
I prefer more volume than length since I wear glasses. I have always stuck to Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara as it gives my lashes volume and enough length without clumping that lasts all day. I know I can depend on this for great lashes.

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
Probably Becca’s Shimmering Pore Perfector since it’s so versatile. It can be worn alone, underneath foundation, as a highlighter or on the body for really natural radiant and glowing skin. I like how it also lasts for ages and contains SPF. I put mine into a smaller tube and it’s always with me when I travel.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
1. http://www.rougedeluxe.blogspot.com/ – Cute and trendy beauty by Haru in Singapore
2. http://www.lifeandlensofbeauty.blogspot.com/ – Beautiful and tempting recommendations by Jennifer in Hong Kong
3. http://www.bangbangsheshoots.blogspot.com/ – Beauty of Japan and your Japanese beauty essentials by Nic Nic in Tokyo

Thanks for taking part Kei Kei, it’s been a pleasure. Out of interest, would you recommend that BB Cream for me? It sounds great! I’m going to go and read all your blog recommendations now!

As always, drop me a line if you’d like to take part yourself charlie@ladyofthelane.com. All welcome!

Another new blog for me this week, the lovely Julie from
http://www.memybestandi.blogspot.com/. I’ve just sat and read the whole blog from start to finish, very witty and I just love her style!

So without further ado lets get on with it!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?

How long do you have? I’m a total Dermalogica convert since I started using the range in the hope of transforming my troubled, congested skin into something bride-worthy before my wedding. It worked I was spot free on the day for the first time in 10 years!

It goes a little like this:

AM
Cleanse: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel with a muslin cloth or microfibre washer (intermingled with Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Wash 3 times /week)
Tone: Kiehls Calendula Herbal Extract Toner
Eyecream: Clinique de-puffing eye massage with the rollerball and Avene, Soothing Eye Counter Cream (This saved me when I had horrible eye reactions when nothing else would, I have had really sensitive eyes ever since)
Primer: Dermalogica Medibac Clearing Mattifier on t-zone
Day Cream: Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30

PM
Cleanse: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, with a muslin cloth or microfiber washer
Exfoliate: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
Tone: Kiehls Calendula Herbal Extract Toner
Serums/Treatments: a few times/week I add either BOD Moroccan Rose Facial Oil or a few drops of Dermalogica Skin Renewal, Hydration or Firming boosters under my night cream depending on my skins needs
Spots: Dermalogica Overnight Clearing gel + Mario Badescu Drying Cream on whiteheads/bumps under skin
Night Cream: Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream
Eyes: Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
Lips: Carmex- I have this in my bathroom cabinet so it’s what seems to go on my lips before bedtime!

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
Am not natural blonde, SHOCK! (who really is ?????) LOVE Redken Blonde Glam Shampoo & Conditioner and also the weekly toner treatment. Gives serious shine, smells grapefruity and zingy and really helps against fade. It is worth the price tag.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
Becca, Clinique, MAC

What is your favourite foundation and why?
Was a devout Estee Lauder Double Wear fan for years, I could fake flawless skin when I didn’t have it. It also lasts like no other but recently have branched out and am using the Double Wear on the t-zone only with Lancome Teint Miracle everywhere else. It’s dewy but with good coverage at the same time, that lasts quite well. A happy medium.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
Pre my sensitive eye dramas, definitely 50/50 loyalty between YSL Le Faux Cils and Christian Dior, Diorshow. Now I’m using Mac Opulash which is a tube mascara so it washes off with warm water without any rubbing required. It gives similar great volume and density like the other two, but is still kind on my poor peepers.

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
I’ll pick the sensible one as opposed to the glamorous one. Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30- a really great anti-ageing moisturiser, light but nourishing, sits well under make-up, loaded with vitamins & skin goodies, smells warm and spicy but most of all keeps you protected, SPF is the most important thing you can put on your face. No point in using anything else, if you have let the sun at your skin. If you let yourself get sun-damaged, you’re screwed! You would need to spend thousands to repair your skin.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
Just three is so hard…..I follow so many
Christina @ The Hair Romance – Fantastic, down to earth, relatable hair advice, immaculate pictures (she’s a photographer) and quite a unique blog. She has recently done a 30 days of twist & pin hairstyles series and is about to launch an e-book on how to do reinact the styles. V cool.
http://www.hairromance.com/
Jade @ Jade Musing –Jade’s a great Aussie beauty blogger, she’s a hip Mum, who is honest, clever, witty and has a laid back approach with a slightly bohemian attitude I love to read. She is a bit of a sasspot and has a great nose for sniffing out great smelling products & perfumes too!
http://jademusing.tumblr.com/
Nat @ Rapsberry Rouge – I love the products she reviews, she seems to showcase every product I’m lusting, she has fabulous taste really!! Her blog layout is clean & pretty, quality images and the coolest Nail Wall with all her NOTD swatches. Be warned – she’s bad for the budget!!
http://raspberry-rouge.blogspot.com/

Thanks so much for taking part! Going to go and check out all your blog recommendations as soon as I’ve finished posting this! Also, loving the idea of using Teint Miracle and Double Wear – I have both so think I’ll give it a go – great idea!

As always, if you’d like to take part, drop me a line to charlie@ladyofthelane.com

I’m so pleased that more people came forward to take part in BBBT. I find it interesting that these posts rarely receive comments but they are very well read statistically speaking which is really nice so I hope people enjoy reading these posts!

This week the lovely Jen at http://hopelesslydevotedtomakeup.blogspot.com/. If looking at gorgeous high end brands is your cup of tea, go look! Be prepared for extreme jealousy though, I’m sobbing over the Splendid Frost post!

So lets start with some easy questions!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
I am currently suffering from minor rosacea. It was bothering me enough to visit a dermatologist who prescribed this skincare regimen for me: In the a.m., I wash my face with Avene’s Anti-Redness Dermo-Cleansing Fluid, I then apply Avene’s Redness Relief Soothing Cream with SPF 25, I seal the moisturizer in with a spray of Avene’s Thermal Spring Water. For my eye area I like to use an eye cream with an SPF in it and so I turn to Clarins Sun Eye Contour Care Ultra Protection SPF 30. In the p.m., I wash with Glyderm Gentle Face Cleanser, which also acts as my exfoliant. I seriously love how this cleanser makes my skin feel so smooth after using it. I then apply my nighttime moisturizer, which is Hydrotone Lite Moisturizer, and then seal that in with a spritz of the thermal water. I dab on La Mer’s Eye Concentrate around my eyes and use Le Metier de Beaute’s Peau Vierge Lash Growth Serum on my lashes! Viola! That’s it — pretty simple really. No toners, no masks, no manual exfoliants and my skin seems to be responding well.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I really do not spend that much time thinking about my hair and as a result, I am not devoted to any one brand. I am much more of a “makeup” kind of girl. I just got my hair cut-and-colored, so my stylist recommended Color Conserve Shampoo to help lock in my color. As far as conditioner goes, I use Aveda’s Brilliant Conditioner for added shine.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
This question is easy, love, love, love Le Metier de Beaute, Edward Bess, and Chanel. Le Metier De Beaute is full of high-quality amazing products. I especially adore their kaleidoscopes.
Edward Bess is such an immaculate well-streamed line, I’ve yet to be disappointed.
Chanel is timeless and I love when they come out with the quintessential nail polish shade of the season that every one covets.

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
La Mer’s The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF 15 is amazing! It never feels like I am wearing it and it has a way of making my skin look way better than it really does! The added SPF is a nice bonus too!

What is your favourite mascara and why?
Le Metier’s Anamorphic Lash Mascara in ‘Aubergine’. I love the color and the fact that it doesn’t clump on my lashes. I was blown away the first time a makeup artist applied it to my lashes. I’ve been hooked on it ever since. Did I mention it doesn’t clump?

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
A signature scent. I think smell is so important and I like the fact that I have an identifiable smell. I’ve been wearing Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb ever since it came out. I’ve tried other fragrances but I always go back to Flowerbomb.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.

1. Everyday Beauty (http://theeverydaybeauty.blogspot.com/ ), her blog is perfection! Sleek and simple in the best way possible. I find her posts to be utterly delightful!
2. Delicate Hummingbird (http://delicatehummingbird.blogspot.com/ ). I have really been enjoying her blog and the fact that she seems to spend so much time on each post is really reflective in the quality of her posts. I really appreciate all her comparative swatches and products too, so helpful!
3. Modesty Brown (http://www.modestybrown.com/ ). Her blog is cheeky and fun! I like that she is a UK blogger and has opened my eyes to brands I have never seen firsthand before. She is down-to-earth and a mommy like me!

Thanks so much for taking part Jenn – I love your blog. I already follow all of your blog recommendations and second your choices!

You’re not the only person I’ve heard raving about the Le Metier mascara, it’s a real shame we can’t get it here in the UK anymore 🙁

This week’s Beauty Blogger’s best things sees me joined by the fabulous and mysterious Makeup Morsels from http://makeupmorsels.wordpress.com/. Yet another new blog to me. I never cease to be amazed how many beauty bloggers are out there!

So as usual and without further ado, let’s see what the enigmatic Makeup Morsels really loves!

So lets start with some easy questions!
Thanks so much  for taking part! I can see I’m going to have to investigate Majolica Majorca as I keep hearing about them and their mascara’s in particular!

Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?
Whew, this could take awhile! My daily skin care regimen is a pretty long list, so I’ll just talk about some of my staple products. For cleansers, I like to use DHC Olive Oil Soap most of the time, and Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser whenever the dry patches on my face start acting up. I’m devoted to both Kose’s toners as well as Kiehl’s Cucumber toner, since they seem to be the only toners I’ve used that actually make a difference on my skin. Plus, they don’t contain alcohol, but still feel very refreshing. My moisturizer is something that I frequently switch out, so I can’t comment on that. However, my standby sunscreen that I’ve stuck with for a few years now is Lancome’s Bienfait Multivital spf 30 moisturizer. The texture feels great against my skin; it’s moisturizing but very light. And if we’re including lip balm in this, my HG balm is Shiseido Therapind Oil Balm. It’s hands down the most moisturizing lip balm I’ve ever used, and it doesn’t contain petroleum. That’s about it!

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?
I don’t use conditioner, but I’m a big fan of the Aussie line for shampoo. They’re drugstore affordable, and leave my hair nice and shiny.

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?
I love Revlon for their huge range of affordable lip products, and their Super Lustrous lip glosses are a staple in my bag. Clarins consistently releases wonderful collections, which tend to be on the traditional side, but are quality products nonetheless. Lastly, I’d have to go with Ellis Faas. The brand is very innovative, the packaging is sleek, and all of the makeup works excellently.

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?
I only wear foundation on special occasions, but when I do, I tend to reach for Laura Mercier products. I love how comfortable and weightless the Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer feels on my face, and I’ve also used the Silk Crème foundation (another good product). Both foundations give natural, medium level coverage, have good staying power, and photograph nicely.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
My favourite lengthening mascara is Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus. It’s one of those mascaras that contains fibers, and it adds insane length to my lashes while still looking natural. Plus, I’ve never found a mascara that can hold a better curl. When it comes to volumizing mascaras, I love d.j.v. Beautenizer Volume Lash. Just one coat fans my lashes out, and adds a good amount of volume without looking clumpy.

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?
I firmly believe that every cosmetic aficionado (love that phrase!) should have a palette of everyday, neutral eyeshadows in their collection. For me, it’s the Maybelline Chai Latte quad, in which all four shadows have serious dents in them! It doesn’t matter whether the palette is drugstore or high end; the point is that you’ll get a lot of mileage out of the colours. It should be a palette you can pull out, and use for any occasion.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go, please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.
There are so many blogs I love to read, so I’ll randomly select three from my list of favourites.

Makeup and Beauty Blog (http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/) was one of the first beauty blogs I ever read. Karen gives honest and thorough product reviews, has awesome Photoshop skills that she uses to insert her cat into makeup ads, and always takes the time to reply to comments. Her personality really shines through, and she updates on a daily basis, so definitely check her out!
Luxirare might just be the most creative blogger I’ve ever come across. She mainly posts about food and fashion, but not in the typical sense at all. I’m constantly amazed at how she can transform the simplest things into works of art, and the pictures on her blog are always crisp and beautiful.
And last but not least, Scrangie (http://www.scrangie.com/)  a.k.a. the queen of manicures. Her nail polish applications skills are perfect…and so are her cuticles. Seriously, one of these days, I’m going to sit down and figure out how she makes all nail polish look so good on her nails. Whenever I want to look at pretty manicures, I always go straight to her blog.

Also, thanks for your blog recommendations, I already follow Karen and Scrangie but I’ve never seen Luxirare before and you’re right, AMAZING!!! That is one amazing blog, so thank you for the recommendation!

As always, please drop me a line if you’d like to take part in Beauty Bloggers Best Things. I’m planning to revamp the questions a bit soon. Anyway, contact me at charlie@ladyofthelane.com, all welcome!!

Another week, another lovely little blog for Beauty Bloggers Best Things. Lauren’s blog is a new one to me and is a great mix of budget and high end products along with some fab FOTD posts. It goes without saying that you should definitely check it out. http://www.roseesprit.blogspot.com/

So lets start with some easy questions!
Can you talk me through your daily skin care regimen, which products you use and why?

I don’t really have a very strict daily routine for my skin, I tend to use Simple’s Facial Wash, and cleans and tone my skin with some cotton pads and Garniers Cleansing Milk and Toner. I find they are both extremely refreshing for my skin and very smoothing. I moisturise using Nivea’s Pure and Natural Moisturising Day cream.

What shampoo and conditioner are you devoted to?

When I didn’t used to be so attentive to what products I would use on a daily basis and why, I would always go out and buy Herbal Essences, purely for the smell and colourful packaging. However before I cut my hair it was quite dull and dry and lifeless, so I use Loreal Elvive Re Nutrition Shampoo and Condition as it is supposed to nourish and revive dry hair, which was exactly what I needed!

What about your top three make up brands generally speaking?

I would have to say MAC Cosmetics, as the range they have in quality products is brilliant, Dior, although I don’t own a large amount of their products, I think it’s just the feel of luxury from seeing them in my collection. And also Sleek, a great affordable company with great pigmentation especially in the palettes they produce!

Ok some specifics now!

What is your favourite foundation and why?

I would have to say that MAC’s Face and Body foundation is my favourite right now. As it’s getting warmer I don’t feel I need to have a full coverage, and I love the dewy look, so it’s perfect for me.

What is your favourite mascara and why?
Rimmel’s Lash Accelorator is a brilliant mascara! Whether it’s brand new or I’ve had it for a month or so, it is always great at separating my eyelashes!

What one product do you think every cosmetic aficionado should have in their collection?

I think everyone should have a gorgeous highlighter. For me a highlighted cheekbone is usually the first thing I’ll notice on someone. My personal favourite is Illamasqua’s Cream blush in Lies.

I love finding new blogs so please before you go,  please recommend three of your favourite bloggers.

This is extremely hard as I have so many favourites but

http://www.madein1985.blogspot.com/ – The photographs on this blog are absolutely beautiful, even if it is just of makeup! And the reviews are always extremely useful and in depth.
http://www.mouldyfruit.blogspot.com/ – The looks that Zara creates are all stunning, and I love blogs that show the products in a look on the face rather than only on the hand.
http://www.meek-n-mild.com/ – Shirley has a wonderful fashion sense that I adore, and always creates subtle but gorgeous makeup looks, her photographs and use of words always keep me coming back for a read!

Thanks for introducing me to your lovely blog and also to your blog recommendations! I love Dior too!
