Just Charlie G

Hello and welcome back to Bloggers Talk Beauty!

I’m going to start with a plea. Regular readers will know this ismy weekly feature where bloggers of any genre tell us about their favourite beauty products. This week’s post is the last one unless more people take part!  Any blogger of any genre is welcome, all you need is to like talking about beauty products. If you’d like to take part, you’ll find the form at the bottom of this post.

This week taking part is the lovely Erin from Musings of a So-Called Shutterbug.

Groggits

Tell us a bit about your blog.

I’ve been blogging for around 10 years but this blog is around 6 and a half years old – the longest I’ve managed to keep a blog going! It’s a general lifestyle blog so I feature whatever I’m most passionate about at the time. There’s food, travel, fitness and at the moment I’m featuring a lot of beauty.

Do you have a morning skincare routine? If so, what is it?

I’m a firm believer that most of the regenerating work your skin does is overnight, so I tend not to do anything to my skin in the morning – why ruin all the good work it’s done overnight? I don’t use anything at night that needs removing in the morning, so I just go straight in with my makeup usually.

Do you have an evening skincare routine? If so, what is it?

At night I remove my makeup with a Garnier micellar cleansing wipes which are lovely on my skin. I then use Neutrogena’s Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Wash. I love the smell of this and how it leaves my skin feeling. Plus it’s pink! I use St Ives Apricot Face Scrub for sensitive skin once a week too. Then a moisturise using Garnier’s Moisture Match cream in either +Matte or +Soft depending on what the weather’s been like and how my skin is reacting. I’ve also been testing Benefit’s It’s Potent dark eye circle cream (which appears to be working!) and Urlash eyelash growth serum (which also appears to be working) which I’ve been applying before bed.

What make up item can you not leave the house without wearing?

I’m actually fine leaving the house without makeup on a non-work day, so I’d just make sure I had a cherry chapstick on me (I have been known to risk missing trains due to forgetting this in my bag and having to make an emergency Boots pitstop!)
On days I need a face on, I make sure I at least have YSL Touch Eclat under my eyes, have tightlined with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner, and have a slick of Lancome Hypnose on my lashes. (Sorry that’s 3 items!!)

What are your favourite skincare brands and why?

I really like Garnier for skin care. I have a really sensitive skin and they do some really great products which work for the various skin issues I have. Plus they’re a great price and usually easily available.

What are your favourite cosmetic brands and why?

I adore Urban Decay and have too many eyeshadow palettes for a girl who only wears eyeshadow occasionally! (I’ve recently aquired the Vice 4 palette and I can’t wait to try it out)
Having recently discovered TheBalm, I now own quite a few of their products and I’m definitely a fan.
I’m dying to get my hands on some of NYX’s products, once they set up a stand near me. Their products look amazing and at such great prices. Oh, and I’m waiting for ColourPop to get their act together and sell in the UK – again amazing prices and the products get amazing reviews.

Do you have a holy grail item? One that you simply cannot be without? Why is it so special?

I can’t be without YSL Touch Eclat. I’ve been buying it for over 15 years. It’s perfect for me as a sheer under eye concealer, and works great on top of a fuller coverage face as a highlighter.

I’m always looking for new blogs to check out, so please recommend one of your favourites!

I have been a little lazy with my blog reading of late, however I always love to read Orangette.  Molly Wizenberg, author of A Homemade Life, writes the most beautiful blogs with gorgeous photography, all about her life and the restaurants she owns. Definitely worth a read if you enjoy lifestyle blogs.

I’m so happy you took part Erin, thank you! I too am devoted to Touche Eclat and I’m pretty sure you’re going to LOVE the Vice palette when you try it!

If you’re a blogger of any genre, and you’d like to take part, then all you need to do is fill in this form, and email me a photo you’d like me to use! I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello and welcome back to Bloggers Talk Beauty, my weekly feature where bloggers of any genre tell us about their favourite beauty products. Any blogger is welcome to take part, all you need is to like beauty products so if you’d like to, details are at the bottom of this post.

This week its the turn of the adorable Bronagh from Bronagh’s Beauty and Books.

Bronagh

Tell us a bit about your blog.

I’ve been blogging since April 2015. I started up as I’d always wanted to have my own space where I could talk about anything and everything.
I most blog about beauty, but I also talk about fashion, books and my own mental health.
I love knowing I have somewhere where I can be myself and know that I am able to talk about everything I love with people who also love it!
It’s also really inspired my creativeness, and my love of writing.

Do you have a morning skincare routine? If so, what is it?

I try to have a skin care routine, but like everyone I skip mornings when I’m tired or just too lazy in general.
Once a week I use Biore’s charcoal facial wash, every other day I use The Body Shops Tea Tree facial wash.
Then I follow with The Body Shops Tea Tree facial toner.
The I finish with Simples facial moisturiser.
I also do weekly face masks so my skin stays clean and clear.

Do you have an evening skincare routine? If so, what is it?

Sort of!  I use micellar water to remove all make-up so I know its all off, then I use a Garnier cleanser to make sure its all removed before finishing with my moisturiser.

What make up item can you not leave the house without wearing?

Concealer and mascara! Both are essential for my every day looks!
I always seem to have a breakout ongoing on my face and I have horrible dark circles, so concealers are my BFF! I’m currently using collections lasting concealer.
Mascara can make you look so much more awake so I always have it on. I use Essence’s Lash Princess Mascara cause it gives high end lenght and volume for such a cheap price.

What are your favourite skincare brands and why?

I have super sensitive skin, so I love simple! Simple is my all time favourite brand and I cannot fault any of their products!

What are your favourite cosmetic brands and why?

Essence and MUA Cosmetics are my two favourites.
I’m a drug store girl at heart and I adore a good bargain! I hate over spending on products that I can get cheaper.
Both of these brands give amazing results for such a small price tag!

Do you have a holy grail item? One that you simply cannot be without? Why is it so special?

I have two! One is Aussie’s miracle Moist spray in conditioner. I’ve used it after every wash since I was 15 (I’m 20 now!) and whenever I don’t I feel a difference!
I also swear by real techniques brushes! I know it sounds silly but the way they make your make-up sit is amazing! No other brush gives me the same effect so I literally use these for everything!

I’m always looking for new blogs to check out, so please recommend one of your favourites!

confettiandcurves.com – Karen is an amazing blogger and well worth a read! She is also one of the first friends I made from blogging.

theflowerthablooms.wordpress.com – Lauren and Rachel are two amazing people who are as LUSH obsessed as I am!

Thanks so much for taking part Bronagh I really enjoyed reading your answers! I’ll have to pay more attention to your blog for thrifty beauty tips as I’m a horror for spend spend spend, which is a problem when you are skint skint skint!

As always, if you’re a blogger of any genre, and you’d like to take part, then all you need to do is fill in this form, and email me a photo you’d like me to use!

This week its the turn of the gorgeous Kayleigh from Leni and Me.

Kayleigh Baker

Tell us a bit about your blog.

My blog Leni & Me is a lifestyle blog I started in Septmeber 2015. I’m a writer and have wanted to blog for years but it wasn’t until I got a puppy, Leni, in August that I found my USP. She amazing and gives me loads of inspiration! I post mainly about beauty, food & lifestyle, and always try and get a little snap of Leni in each post. I hope you like it!

Do you have a morning skincare routine? If so, what is it?

Yes! I’m a beauty writer by day, so I’m a sucker for anything beauty related. I’ll wash my face in the shower with a foaming Bliss face wash, then cleanse with a Decleor cream cleanser before using a Simple toner and moisturising. I normally use a Oil of Olay day cream with a few drops of L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil!

Do you have an evening skincare routine? If so, what is it?

In the evening I’ll take off my make up with my Decleor cleanser, then use a sensitive skin toner before applying a few drops of L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil.

What make up item can you not leave the house without wearing?

My HD Brows palette. Even if I’m going completely bare faced I feel naked without subtly tidying up my brows!

What are your favourite skincare brands and why?

I love Bliss skincare. It’s amazing and everything I’ve used from the brand I love.

What are your favourite cosmetic brands and why?

I’m a big fan of Mac lipsticks. They’re so long wearing and have a great selection of colours. Otherwise I adore my Naked 2 & Naked 3 palettes – they’re highly pigmented and feature a real mix of wearable colours. When I want something extra special I opt for either Nars or Hourglass. Both brands have make up that you can trust is going to look beautiful.

Do you have a holy grail item? One that you simply cannot be without? Why is it so special?

It has to be my Hourglass Ambient Highlighting Powder. It basically suits every complexion and gives cheeks that healthy looking glow without being too OTT.

I’m always looking for new blogs to check out, so please recommend one of your favourites!

I really like LV in Love with: www.lvinlovewith.com
I know Louise and she’s so lovely, the tone of her blog is so down to earth I always enjoy reading her posts & her photography!

Aw Kayleigh, thank you so much for taking part, Leni is beautiful! I love your blog, the photography is great, but Leni is just too cute. My pooch, Thor, would love her! Also, note to self, must finally get round to trying an Hourglass powder!

This week its the turn of the super stylish Charlene from The Life of Leesha Star.

Leesha Starr

Tell us a bit about your blog.

I started blogging at ‘The Life of Leeshastarr’ about 5/6 years ago as a way to vent about my depression. I love having my own little area on the web where I can talk about whatever crosses my mind and if anyone finds me interesting that’s a bonus.

Do you have a morning skincare routine? If so, what is it?

My morning routine consists of normally taking off the make-up I forgot to take off the night before then I wash my face with warm water before I use my Olay cleanser and toner before moisturising with whatever moisturiser I have.

Do you have an evening skincare routine? If so, what is it?

If I remember I use a general daily exfoliating wash then cleanse, tone and moisturise.

What make up item can you not leave the house without wearing?

My sleek eyebrow kit. As long as my eyebrows are done I can leave the house!

What are your favourite skincare brands and why?

I’m a simple girl, I LOVE Olay. They’ve not failed me yet. I don’t have sensitive skin but a few high end brands affect my skin so high street all the way.

What are your favourite cosmetic brands and why?

It would have to be Makeup Revolution. I love their palettes and fixing spray. They’re so cheap too!

Do you have a holy grail item? One that you simply cannot be without? Why is it so special?

My sleek eyebrow kit. My eyebrows are my world. It is exactly the same as Benefit’s BrowZings but less than half the price! It lasts months and I couldn’t live without it

I’m always looking for new blogs to check out, so please recommend one of your favourites!

Another week, another Bloggers Talk Beauty! For those who don’t know, this is my weekly feature where bloggers of any genre, tell us about their favourite beauty products.

This week we’re talking to the lovely Alice from from One & The Same.

Alice Gorman

Tell us a bit about your blog.

I started blogging about 5 years ago as a part of my course at uni and sporadically kept it up for my portfolio. In my final year I got into writing for online mags and student publications and posted my pieces on my blog which were quite popular. Once I graduated I started having more of a go at it but life got in the way and I did neglect it. I picked it up again a few months ago and have fallen back in love with it and been loving getting involved with the blogging community on Twitter!

Oh, and my blog is mainly lifestyle/beauty/food and occasionally fashion!

Do you have a morning skincare routine? If so, what is it?

Every morning without fail I lather myself in Clarins face cream. I alternative between Clarins Hydraquench and Clarins Multiactive Day Cream for Dry Skin. I have been using them for years and years as they are the only moisturisers I have tried that smooth and soothe my very dry/tight face. I have controlled eczema so moisturising is very important to me (and my face!)

Do you have an evening skincare routine? If so, what is it?

If I have been wearing make up through the day I always make sure I have taken this off before I repeat my morning routine. Nothing swanky; simple face wipe and tons of Clarins!

What make up item can you not leave the house without wearing?

Top of this list would most likely be bronzer. I am in no way scared of showing people my un-made up face but the first thing I think to myself when I see myself without make up is ‘WHY ARE YOU SO PALE!!!!’

What are your favourite skincare brands and why?

My favourite skin care brand is, you’ve guessed it – Clarins! I have tried so many other brands but always come back to my fave. Although it is pricey and I wince every time I buy it, another would have to be so super special to take it’s place!

What are your favourite cosmetic brands and why?

I don’t really have an absolute FAVOURITE brand because I like so many for different reasons. If I was to choose an overall favourite it would probably be MAC but my all time favourite mascara is made by Dior and should they ever discontinue it my life would be over.

Do you have a holy grail item? One that you simply cannot be without? Why is it so special?

As I just mentioned my absolute holy grail item is my Diorshow Iconic mascara. It is the best mascara by miles that I have tried and I have tried hundreds! It is pretty pricey but when you consider how good it is and how long it will last it is worth it. I totally recommend it to anyone who listens!

I’m always looking for new blogs to check out, so please recommend one of your favourites!

I love Hannah Gale’s blog and have really enjoyed watching her develop over the years. Also love bigfashionista.com, her posts always make me laugh and theskinnedcartree.co.uk is so informative; I’ve found so many helpful posts on there! Too many to mention – I love cruising through Twitter and finding more to read!

Thanks for taking part Alice, I love Clarins so I totally agree with your faves but I have to try that mascara now…I might have to save up! I’m also really pale so I feel your pain on that one! Everyone else, go give her a follow here.

If you’re a blogger of any genre, and you’d like to take part, then all you need to do is fill in this form, and email me a photo you’d like me to use! I look forward to hearing from you!
