As you know I bought and reviewed one of Dior’s Newest lip products, the Jelly Lip Pen in Carioca. What I forgot to tell you was that I loved it so much that I went back for another. Ilhabela.
Ilhabela is part of Dior’s Bird of Paradise Summer collection and this is pink. It’s a sheer, shimmery, pink which normally I wouldn’t go for, but because of the consistency of the pen (which I feel is more of a crayon in my humble opinion), you can sheer these out for a light pink subtle shimmer for when your look is crying out for a subtle lip. Whether you’re going for a smokey or the bare minimum Ilhabera is the perfect pink but you can really build it up should you wish, for a really sparkly pink look.

The Diorblush Cheek Creme in Bikini is part of Dior’s Pop Art collection. There are four of these cheek creams in the collection and bikini is pink shade with a hint of red.
I’m totally mystified if I’m honest. My bikini looks a bit redder in the photographs than it actually is. But now I’ve gone and got the pot and looked at it again I’d describe it as more of a red with a hint of pink rather than the other way round!
In terms of texture this is going to be tricky to describe. It’s not a creamy cream, and it’s not a mousse. It’s like a solid little cake of product that when you press your finger to it just gives up the right amount of product. It’s just perfect. It applies like a dream too and doesn’t disturb your base as you blend it in and it’s incredibly buildable too, if a whisper of colour is what you’re after that’s easy to achieve, and if you’re after full blown Aunt Sally cheeks that’s doable too.
When I wear blusher it never shows up in photographs too well, even when I feel like I’ve applied too much, so in the following pic’s I’ve worn more than I normally would just to get it to show up.
It’s really lovely BUT there are two things I’m not keen on. One is the price which is an ouchy £24 the other is that when I turn the pot upside down the whole little blob of product just drops out of its pot. I don’t know if mine has shrunk but it’s a real reminder of how little product there is to have this sort of ten pence size blob of product drop out in my hand!
Still, it is beautiful and I’m pleased I bought it as in terms of application, longevity and texture it’s flawless. I bought mine for full price but you can get yours for nigh on a fiver less at Escentual where they are £19.20.

I have a new foundation love! Meet Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup.
Once I started to appreciate how amazing all the Dior cosmetics I tried were, then it was only a matter of time before I gave into the buzz about their base products. I popped to my local counter at Debenhams and let the lady do her sales pitch. I was going to either go for the BB or this one, but I’ve got a couple of BB’s on the go at the moment so I went for the more traditional foundation. Shade 20 is absolutely spot on for me, it’s what I thought I was going to be before I went in, but both the sales assistant and myself agreed this was pretty perfect colour wise.
This foundation promises a subtle velvet finish with just the right amount of correction, adding shine free radiance. And I’d agree with that. It is velvety, and it isn’t shiny and it does correct. It also does a pretty good job of looking like skin rather than foundation. What I truly love about this is that when I remove my make up at the end of the day, it’s looks pretty much the same as it did a moment after application. This stuff does not budge. The other thing that I love about it is that it just works perfectly on my tricky skin. With many products, they either slide off my (not very oily) nose, or sit in the pores, or make my not very flaky skin look incredibly flaky and I have to mess around with primers and different application techniques to make them work. This however works with whatever brush I use and without the need for any primer. It works every time and makes me flawless. It states that it gives just the right amount of correction, I’d go further than that and say that certainly for me, unless I have a blemish of epic proportions (which sadly happens too often), I can skip concealer all together.
It’s just a total winner of a foundation. The only reason I don’t reach for this every single day is that when my skin is clear, or it’s extremely hot (like it is now) then I like a sheerer finish. I am also still very much in love with the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, as I love the finish on that one too, it’s a little more shiny than this one, but you know how it is, you want a different finish on any given day. In terms of performance though this is a far and away winner.
I purchased mine from Debenhams but I’d recommend purchasing yours from Escentual where it’s currently £25.60 instead of £32!

I bought this beauty of a product on a a whim a week ago for two reasons, 1) I’ve realised that Dior polishes are exceptional in terms of application and wear time and 2) whilst I do love buying and wearing colours, my natural leaning is towards french, nude and natural nails. Timeless and classy. While I was perusing the various Dior polishes on offer (okay hello hefty wishlist of doom!) I spotted this. Dior’s Nail Glow.
So it’s a sheer pink to make your nail beds look pinker and your white tips look whiter. It’s got a hint of UV purple about it in the bottle which makes sense as you can buy optical brightening polishes for acrylics to make the white look really white and they can have a tinge of blue/purple about them in certain lights but they really work to make white acrylic look brighter so I was hoping this would do the same.
I absolutely love it. I received this on about Wednesday last week, it’s Sunday at the time of writing, it’s still fully in place with no chips.
Love it. Certainly won’t be for everyone, certainly will be to much money for many people to contemplate spending on a sheer polish but if you’re a fan of naturally glossy and healthy looking nails, this could be for you, it’s wear time alone makes it worth it for me.
I bought mine from Escentual where I paid £15.30.
I had quite the shopping list for the Dior Summer collection, but when it came down it I had less money than expected and that list got edited down a bit but I’m still thrilled with the bits I got. So lets take a little look!
Starting with the absolutely stunning Nail Lacquer Duo in Samba.
I don’t normally like greens or teals on me, but having seen swatches of these on various blogs I knew I needed to get this duo in my life. It’s not the first time Dior have got me with a green! Last year I fell for Waterlily and I find the formula to be exceptional on Dior polishes, they just apply like a dream. Metallic-y looking teals I find are often very thin and of course metallic shades are notoriously streaky, but this is not. It’s not even really metallic, I don’t know what it is, let’s just call it otherworldly. In the flesh it has a depth that I can’t capture on a photograph, I strongly recommend you check it out. The other shade is also beautiful. One thing I want to mention is that these are MINI polishes which I hadn’t realised. Ridiculous not have realised really since the price is so cheap for two Dior polishes (£18.70), realistically there’s no way they’d be full size! So anyway, here they are…
Someone said to me yesterday “you can tell thats not cheap polish” and you really can, it’s amazing.
The other item I grabbed was one of the new Jelly Lip Pens. Carioca to be precise.
Is it a balm? Is it a gloss? Is it a lipstick? Well it’s all of those really. It’s a sheer(ish) wash of moisturising colour with a light gloss, nothing too shiny, definitely not sticky, in fact it feels pretty much weightless.
The reason I picked this colour is that it’s a) coral, but b) there’s something a bit special about it.
Sorry the swatch is a bit blurry, but can you see why I was drawn to this shade?
What about this?
Alright, if you still can’t see it how about this out of focus shot?
Yes yes, that’s like a violet iridescence and it’s so so so beautiful. On the lips it’s barely detectable if I’m honest and if it was more obvious it wouldn’t be wearable, but it’s absolutely gorgeous! It was £16.15
Very happy with my little treats, and I may pop back at some point and grab the Birds of Paradise Addict Lipstick in Exotique which looks so pretty…
Anyway, I bought these from www.escentual.com where the prices seem to be cheaper than anywhere else!
I did very well this Christmas in terms of presents but surprisingly I only had one beauty related thing. I’m not complaining though cos it’s a good un!
My swatches didn’t turn out the best but here they are anyway…
That far left shade is a total beaut, it’s not back as it appears in my swatches, it’s darkest brown and filled with minute gold particles….the other shades are a pale shimmering champagne and three variations on gold, a coppery gold, a yellowy gold and a bronzey gold. Bronzey isn’t a word I know!
Anyway here’s how I’ve been wearing them, in various lights.
I absolutely love this palette, it’s everything I’d hoped it would be when I put it on my Christmas wishlist…but there is bad news. I can’t find it in stock anywhere. If you do manage to find this, on a blog sale, in a local store or on Ebay, grab it quick, this one’s a classic in the making!
Thank you to my husband for my lovely present!
Yet another stunning Christmas collection I feel I must share with you. This one by Dior is wonderfully festive and of course inspired by Dior’s Grand Ball. There isn’t a thing in this collection I wouldn’t be delighted to own.
The star of the collection is the amazing Grand Bal Palette. A hefty £60, this is stunning. Two eyeshadows, two glosses and a black liner. Beautiful.
My favourite things are the lashes…. so stunning. £19.
Then there are four Diorific Vernis, £20 each, Top to bottom are Marilyn, Diva, Diorling and Lady. I would particularly like Lady and Diva.
Then there are four Diorific Lipsticks, Diorling, Diva, Lad and Marilyn, each a different shade of red. £25 each.
There are two 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes, in Night Golds and Fairy Golds. Both £40 each. I’ll take both please!
Finally there are two Dior Addict Ultra Gloss, a gold and a red, £21 Each, Lame Gold and Ceremony Red.
Finally, there’s a Loose Powder in Gold Dust…I’d love this but in reality I don’t have any excuses to wear such a beautiful product. £31.50, I don’t have an image for that one sadly.
A truly truly glamorous collections with they palettes and lashes really appealling. To me, this collection screams Christmas party. Beautiful!
Dior’s Fall Collection, Golden Jungle was released at Selfridges on Monday and what a beautiful collection it is. The image above, it reminds me of a bygone era, it’s sort of 1920’s with a touch of Cleopatra for the 2000’s! The colours are perfect and perfect for Autumn. So I had to skip the Summer palette I wanted, but I can promise you I’ll be treating myself to some of these products as soon as I can afford them.
My top pick is the Limited Edition Golden Jungle Palette £52. This one is Golden Khakis but I’d equally love the other version, Golden Browns.
Then there’s the 5 Couleurs Glow in Khaki Design. £40. I guess I wouldn’t need (or be able to afford) both this and the Golden Jungle Palette, but certainly I’d like this one, maybe the Golden Browns Golden Jungle Palette and then the Khaki Design 5 Couleurs Glow as well. Hmm, decisions decisions!
My final top pick is the crocodile effect Golden Jungle Nail Art Duo. £24. A new and altogether more stylish take on the shatter/cracked top coat.
There are plenty more beautiful products in the collection, four Dior Addict Lipsticks, three of which are Limited Edition, 2 new 3 Couleurs Glow palettes in Nude Glow and Ivory Glow and two new nail varnishes in Amazonia and Bengale.
My biggest problem is going to be editing down my shopping list!
What do you think? Anything take your fancy?
Available now in Selfidges and nationwide from 10th August.
Sooooo… I’m not going on holiday after all, the reasons aren’t very exciting so I won’t bore you all but I now will be around this coming week to publish comments etc. We’re just going to do lots of day trips instead.
So here’s a spontaneous blog post for you. Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Glow in 463 Pretty Rose from the recent Garden Party Spring collection. I didn’t buy this and nor was it sent to me by PR’s, this was a gift, just for clarity’s sake and in the interests of full disclosure.
Sooo, Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Glow in Pretty Rose is not a totally sheer shade although it is so close my natural lip colour when on you could be mistaken for thinking I was wearing a clear gloss.
It’s actually a very pretty salmon pink shade. It’s very shiny, not at all sticky and although I’m not convinced it does actually plump my lips as I think it promises, it certainly helps to give the impression of full plump lips.
For me, the perfect gloss. These are £20 each and I’m not affiliated with in any way but do recommend
Oh I’ve been wanting to get this post done for ages as I’m so excited about it! I had so many other things I needed to blog about and I had so many photos to sort out of this lot that I kept putting it off. All done now though so now I’m just excited to share this with you. Of course you’ll find most of these have already been covered by other bloggers but I’m keen to share anyway!
First up, the much coveted Waterlily nail varnish. Greens aren’t really my thing but I was so taken with this particular shade I had to grab it. It is a lovely green with a hint of shimmer, and light rose scent. The rose scent really only lasts a day or two before being lost altogether and it wasn’t all that strong to start with, that’s fine by me, I didn’t buy it for the scent, it does however smell nice!
Absolutely beautiful for Spring but I don’t care if it’s Spring or not this joins the ranks of the rare few polishes that I’ve removed because it was chipped and reapplied straight away. I love it that much.
The next thing I picked up was a Rouge Dior lipstick in Corolle Pink or Rose Corolle, I’m not actually sure which is the actual name since both are written on the box. It looks quite peachy in the bullet but on me, although slightly sheer, it’s definitely a pink. The picture of it on my lips is absolutely terrible, I’m sorry.
I can’t quite pull this shade off to be totally honest, it does work as part of the whole look and it’s very Spring like but it’s not the best suited to me. It won’t stop me wearing it though. This is my first Dior lipstick and the texture and finish are gorgeous, very lightly glossy and nicely moisturising but without too much “slip”, YSL Rouge Volupte, I’m looking at you.
Now for something a little more exciting, one of the two Eyeshadow palettes from the Garden Party collection. I picked the greens version for two reasons, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it and I knew the pinks and purples version wouldn’t suit me too well. Anyway, the one I’ve photographed actually ended up going back as it was damaged, but I replaced like for like, it’s so gorgeous!
The colours are to die for, that soft yellow on the bottom left is my favourite but I do love them all. I managed to put together an eye look that does them no justice at all and I’m sure you could create something really wonderful with these colours, but here we go anyway.
Just beautiful and perfect for Spring, the shimmer in these is very light, it’s not sparkle city with these, but they aren’t satin or matte either, and there’s no fall out whatsoever, these are smooth as butter. Beautiful. Really delighted with this.
Finally, the Rosy Glow Blush. I wanted this, I wasn’t sure it’d work on me but I had to have it. Rosy Glow is designed to use the moisture of your skin to enhance the product. So in essence, it will be different on everyone. You apply to your cheekbones and leave it, the colour gradually intensifies. If you want more, you add more. In the pan it is both beautiful and terrifying! The second picture is far more representative of the colour in the pan. Bright candy pink.
Swatches are pretty useless since they tell you nothing much, I’ve done one anyway so you can see, but a) my camera has washed it out slightly and b) it’s immediately after applying and not intensified on my cheekbone.
As for how it looks on, well I’ve got a couple of shots that should give you some idea of how it is on me.
And there we have it, all the bits I bought from the Spring Dior collection which is an absolute beaut! I could have gone for more of the lip products, there are some lovely lipsticks and glosses, but I had to stop somewhere! Does anything from this collection take your fancy? I think it’s my favourite Spring collection, even though it’s not the most suited to me!
I’m also really looking forward to Lancome and Chanel. This year, I’m in love with all the collections, so far though its a toss up between Dior and Clarins. We shall see what the other collections bring!
