I just had to show you this because… well because it just looks so awesome! Two thin coats of the beautiful Orly Lunar Eclipse with a coat of OPI Black Shatter top coat (out in Jan), and a quick slick of Seche Vite to finish. Stunning!
So, I never got hold of the Barry M crackle top coat, for those of you who did, how does this compare do you think? Is it worth the extra money?
I’m wondering what combo to do with it next! I love it much more than I thought I would.
I’m really excited to be able to show you this collection. The colours look beautiful and since I never got to try out the Barry M crackle polish I was erally excited to get my hands on the OPI Black Shatter Top Coat. The collection is due out in January and features four colours and the Black Shatter.
I was sent Not Like the Movies along with the Black Shatter and I might have gone a bit photo crazy. In all the promo images Not Like the Movies looks like a metallic grey, which is kind of is, in some lights…but in other lights you can see hints of lilac and unlike any other polish I’ve ever known, if you go outside it’s a completely different colour, no grey, just a shimmery mauve/Lilac. It is very sheer, I have used two coats in these pictures because I knew I was going to put the black top coat on, but if I was wearing it alone I’d go for three coats. It also features some really pretty shimmer and a very very small amount of tiny glitter, its not in your face at all. Anyway, enough waffling, onto the pictures!
And a shot showing off the purple effect:
And now with added top coat:
And then I thought I’d add a traditional coat of Seche Vite, because, well it’s habit.
I totally and utterly love it. In fact when this starts chipping, I plan to put it straight back on again, thats how much I love it and I don’t think I’ve ever done that with any polish ever! I didn’t think I was going to like the Black Shatter but I really do, especially with this Not Like the Movies underneath. I also really like the look of the other shades so I plan to buy them for myself when they come out. If I can wait until January!
These will be £10.50 each from http://www.lenawhite.co.uk/. Out in January!
I have been looking forward to this collection for an eternity. I was sent the following three polishes for review purposes but rest assured I’ll be buying several more.
Firstly Tease-y Does It!
A rich, flecked berry with a slight hint of brown to it, actually there are hints of various things in there that are best demonstrated by this photo that I nearly deleted! It’s blurry but it does demonstrate the effect very well.
This is the polish I was most looking forward to and it is gorgeous. Love this.
Next up, The Show Must Go On.
Words cannot express how glorious this is. Glass flecked shimmery hot pink (not usually a colour I would wear) shot through with gold duochrome. This is a must have, it’s so gorgeous. I don’t think there’s much I can say, the pictures really do the talking here. My favourite. Also, it’s everything Mac’s Bad Fairy should have been.
Finally, one of the glitters, Sparkle-iscious. Please do enlarge these, I see the effect is lost on these smaller images.
A ridiculously sparkly medley of gold, blue & pink glitters. No picture can capture the gorgeousness of this. I can’t stop looking at my nails, it’s so lovely. I’m absolutely dreading the removal though. I hate glitters usually but I wonder if this will be the one to make me feel glitter is worth the pain of removal? In the first picture btw, the flash made the bare spots stand out far more than they actually do.
Lastly just a shot of Tease-y Does It with a coat of Sparkle-iscious.
And The Show Must Go On! with a coat of Sparkle-iscious.
Usually excellent OPI standard and I cannot wait to buy a few more of these babies! £9.95 for 15ml from http://www.lenawhite.co.uk/store/burlesque-nail-lacquers

This is lovely. I wasn’t going to bother doing a post about this since it looks so boring but I wanted to tell you about it so here I am!
OPI I Pink I Love You is a sheer milky pink with a subtle bluey/purple flash. This is two coats and it’s still sheer, I could have gone for three coats but I like it sheer. Perhaps I’ve just worn too many colours lately!
What say you? Do you ever rock the sheer colours or is a VNL just an absolute no no for you?
Today I’m wearing yet another polish from my most recent Trans Design Haul. This is OPI Who Needs A Prince? Although at first glance it’s a little boring, it’s actually rather beautiful I think. Soft Baby pink with a subtle bright pink sheen. Very pretty.
Sttreaky to apply, this is three coats, the right hand has a couple of nails that are still streaky even with three coats, but I don’t care. I like this a lot.
The first of my Trans Design polishes from my most recent order, OPI Suzi/Suzy & the Lifeguard. Absolutely shockingly bad name but lovely polish that I unfortunately failed to capture well in my pics.
It’s a lovely, fairly opaque pearly pink. Kind of shimmery, but not. Lovely. And yes, my nails are suddenly a lot shorter. I had an accident opening a six pack of coke and had to cut them all down to match the damage. Boo Hoo. 🙁
On the 29th December 2009 I removed my false nails and decided it was time to sort out my fingers. You can find my first post HERE
My nails were awful. truly awful. Look!
Lemony Flutter is great but if I stop using it my cuticles suffer immediately.
OPI Nail Envy, I’m sure it worked and helped strengthen my poor nails, but I stopped using it when I realised it was that causing all my China Glaze application problems. I’ve had no further issues since I switched to cheapy Boots 17 Strengthening Base Coat.
Yes I know my polish is streaky.
This is the second to last polish from my Trans Design order and I’ve been putting it off because I’m terrified about removing this much glitter. But it’s so pretty and it kept calling me so last night I got it out and put it on.
I found it didn’t go on terribly easily, nothing to do with OPI but it just seems to be how I roll with glitter polishes, the brushes seem so gloopy and full of glitter it because almost paste-like. It’s not a problem, I can work with it.
This polish is without question, completely Mad as a Hatter. In case you didn’t know, it’s from the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection. It’s stunning. It’s pretty hard to capture the effect in a photo but I’ve done my best for you. Also. Look at my nails! Yay!
So here we go:
Now for the close up. You need to see all these colours!
Click on the pic to make it large. Isn’t it gorgeous? Now it’d better not chip because I can’t face removing it for days. Love this polish.
Three blog posts in one day!
Anyway, I’ve not done a nail update for a couple of weeks. So here we were at week one:
And here we are after five weeks of OPI Nail Envy and Lush Lemony Flutter.
They are obviously much better but I’m at a loss now as to how to improve the ragged cuticles. The nails are pretty strong but one did flake earlier today which isn’t ideal. Hmm. I’m about to use nail varnish 3 from my Trans Design Order, China Glaze Holographic TTYL. It’s the one I’m most disappointed in colour wise but I’ve only tested it on one nail so far so expect a report tomorrow!
Any advice on raggedy cuticles gratefully received!
Actually, it’s not week three at all but as I’ve labelled the pictures that way then thats how I’ll leave it, (its actually the end of week two). I’ve been trying to post this all night but the internet is proper crappy here today. boo.
Anyway, as you know, after weeks of biting followed by a couple of weeks of false nails I decided it was high time to get my nails in order and especially now as I have some polishes to play with. Anyway, just as a reminder this is how they looked when I removed the false nails.
As you can see, not pretty. So below is how they look now after two full weeks of OPI Nail Envy and Lush’s Lemony Flutter. It’s not such a great improvement on last week’s update but a HUGE improvement on the first pic. Really pleased, at this rate I’ll have something to paint with my polishes soon! Operation Nail Repair is going well.
